So finally have internet connection after two days! Arrived to beautiful weather and spectacular beach in Akumal. Hotel a little iffy to start, but weather & beach & food & enteretainment so good, will let it go. It's been a while since we were at an all-inclusive, so takes some getting used to. French everywhere, mon dieu! So loud & rude. A race for beach chairs every morning. But otherwise, wonderful. 85 degrees - what we had expected, and great swimming, sunning, reading, s...
Akumal, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico heat66Arrived in Meico City after 16 hrs of travelling- nice!! People everywhere, get a certified taxi [pay before you get into the taxi at a registry at the airport] from the airport so you know you will get where you are headed safely. Although the taxi drivers still drive like maniacs!! Mexico City itself is a very vibrant, lively and colourful city. Markets are at every turn filling the air with beautiful smells!! However you can see the pollution quiet visibly. Staying at the Catalona, beautif...

... Did I mention the road was already flooded outside the gate?

Am officially freaked out, tour group breaks for lunch, temporarily distracted of thoughts of potential imminent demise with display of dancing women and children spinning around with beer and glasses on their heads, spinning leads to more hurricane like thoughts. A quick dip in a beautiful Cenote (natural occurring sacred pool) is lovely, our guide confirms ...
Cozumel, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico john.boyd.123I know I have been lazy about keeping this blog up to date. It has been a laid back 2 weeks down here, not much happening just the sun and the waves. Iam going to post a bunch of pic and will label the pics of what they are. I did get a new camera that James brought down for me. We went to Cozumel to pick ...
Xpuha, Mexico ironworker025... we did it.] Got it in the water and then back to drinking beer and watching him put up the sail. He got that up and sailed away into the sun. It was pretty neat how he just sailed away. Was gone about a hour and came sailing back. Now it was time to get ready for the super bowl. Jock our neighbor had the TV and got the channel the game was on , so it was decided that we ...
Xpuha, Mexico ironworker025... the leg of D´s trunks! The rest of the float proceeded without hitch and we all climbed back into the boat. After an awesome pizza and some entertainment by a hippie band (we could tell they had a hippie theme when 3 camper vans turned up outside our little hotel and out trotted lots of people with matted hair!), it was off to bed to recharge the batteries for the next day of travel.
Tulum, Mexico themcallens... as you can see. Our camper is about a 100 ft. from the water and you can hear the waves splashing ashore. There ared only 8 campers here so it is small. There is a resurant and dive shop. Went swimming this morning and WOW was it nice. I will get this posted so I can post some pics so you can see what it looks like. I will add more about the place and more pics latter.
Xpuha, Mexico ironworker025... it doesn`t work. Someone email me Wicksy`s email address and Alison let me know if the kids postcards have arrived. I am collecting coins from each country for the kids. The Mexican 10 peso coin has a Mayan calendar on it. Our bus to Coba didn`t leave until 14:45pm so we went shopping. I bought a Mayan ink and leather picture depicting a chief shaman on a platform having visuals, the shopkeeper told me it he was an astronaut and i guess he kind ...
Coba, Mexico inoursuitcase... enjoy a scenic drive to Tulum while your English speaking native guide offers a colorful narration and explains the history and life in the Yucatan as well as the mysterious Mayan culture. (There will be a 20-minute rest room stop along the way to the ruins.) When you arrive at the ruins, your guide will escort you through the walled Mayan city and share the secrets, facts, myths, and legends of this long forgotten ...
