      Cuvea de Juan Pedro was a restaurant near the Santa Maria church. We were hoping for tapas but decided to stay to share a bottle of wine plus a cheeseboard appetizer and have main courses.       ... than enough detail but the visuals were quite stunning, even in the muted light.

      The chapel was of monumental scale, clearly befitting a very senior member of the government. Nothing was done on the cheap.

      Wasting time at the end, Roddy, I spied the WHS symbol! I checked later and it is called the Renaissance monumental ensembles of Ibida and Baeza for its influence on Spanish architecture in Renaissance times.

      ... it’s somewhat more luxurious than other castles with purely defensive purposes
      because it was built somewhat later in the mid-1400s and was remodeled several
      times and lived in by the Marques of Villena. In any event, except for the
      construction crane towering above it (which I tried to avoid in as many photos
      as possible) Belmonte is a perfect example of what a renaissance castle is
      supposed to look like.

      Spent 2 days in cloudy, cool, Cartagena. One of the largest natural harbours in the world according to our tour guide yesterday. Beautiful city, with everything within walking distance of our hotel the "Habanero". On the train to Barcelona, at the moment. About 8 hrs, and 60 euros (80 ...
