B.P. 232 Cabo Negro Tetouan, Morocco
... it was possible but Gavin seems to have some serious driving skills.
In Tetouan we hired a guide to show us around the city and take us to the local market where we saw the most mouth watering foods imaginable. Huge bowls of fresh olives, freshly baked breads and every fruit and vegetable imaginable. I could see why locals from the previous town recommended we stopped. Unfortunately we were then dragged to our guides recommended shops where we spent ...
... journey. In Tetuan we visited: -A school with artesian workshops for young students to apprentice and learn special skills -La Medina. The twisty-turny center of town and market place. This was the most authentic part of the trip. -A music school where we attended a lovely presentation on Andalusi music -We also had an language exchange with Moroccan students who are studying spanish at The Cervantes Institute there ...
Tetouan, Morocco megmary... place and when the guards summonsed our truck for a second customs inspection I was a bit worried. I think the guard just entered the truck to have a look at the girls because they didn't really care too much for inspecting any bags or otherwise searching the truck. After about an hour of waiting, horn blowing and more waiting we were into Morocco.
For the first nights camp we were near Tetouan on the Mediterranean Coast of Morocco and ...
... to a campsite near Tetouan instead of Tangier due to time spent at the border, after stocking up the truck at a cash and carry and filling up with 1500L of fuel. Left campsite on the coast to head into the old colonial capital. After changing money from Euro to Dirham; myself, Rob and Martin hired a guide somehow to take us on a tour around the Medina. Without a guide most ...
Tetouan, Morocco andrewsinclair... looked green but it was pink or purple or red depending on your skin tone (it actually did work). We had an opportunity to buy anything we saw, which people did. Not me. I personally didn't believe in anything they were selling. Next stop was lunch where we had a very traditional Moroccan meal, which included a vegetable soup, beef shish kabobs, and a platter with coos coos topped with beef and various steamed vegetables. It was actually very good. After lunch there was Moroccan ...
Tangier, Morocco ikono... places and through the souks, and we ended up having a 2-hour session at a hammam. What a wonderful experience - you wash yourself down, then go into a steam room, then get rubbed down and massaged with an abrasive, then slathered in argan oil from head to foot and massaged again, then coated in seaweed and trussed up in plastic for half an hour, before finally washing it all off, and going to a relaxation room where you are served mint tea. Definitely a good sleep that ...
Tangier, Morocco everardt... hour and a half south of Tetouan. I slept the whole way, to say the least!! The village is tucked up high into the mountains. From what I heard from my friends that were awake during the ride, we are lucky we didnt drive off the cliff the way the bus driver was driving. I guess a car passed us and then the bus driver decided he wanted to pass him too, and there were a few, what seemed like close calls on the edge of the road. Anyways, the mountain ...
Chefchaouen, Morocco amy22...
Chefchaouen, Morocco mapoirat... of hospitality one would stereotypically associate with the image Ive decribed. She slammed our pints and curries on the table without hesitation, while she yelled profanities at her couldnt-be-older-than-13 year old daughter who was also waiting tables singing "horny, horny, horny." The real icing on the cake was a large roach skirting the broken mirror above Lauras head and we were out of there. As we left, a big sign on the cigarette machine read ...
