... here (including myself), prancing about in a rather sophisticated manner. The dancers were accompanied by a nine-piece ‘orchestra’ using local instruments. These sounded along the lines of half a dozen dinner gongs and a load of front door chimes. We went dressed in true European style, with flowers in our hair. That seems to be the ‘cool’ thing over here. The evening was concluded with a walk along the beach in the shallow tide.

... evil man, the men spread out. A pile of coconut shells was put in front of us, which were set alight. A man dressed as an animal (I am not sure which one - he looked like a camel!) walked on the burning coconuts, while in a 'trance'. He did this many times before being wrestled to the ground by the chanting men. At the end he sat down and showed us the soles of his feet, which were black, but he did not seem to be in pain. It was very entertaining, and David was ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia angela_louise... 5-8 rooms and is adorned with Hindu statues. Our room is modern and clean. Ellie's is the place you go if you just want to relax and stay in the hotel all day. They have a location for a roof top massage, a great pool, a dvd collection and the best breakfast in the world. The couple, who are managing Ellie's have an interesting story. They took time off work to tour the world from England. They made it to Australia, New Zealand ...
Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia nprivette... here threw us a mini-party at the bamboo huts, singing songs, we passed the guitar around, and were the honored guests for the evening. They made it pretty special for us, we were stoked. Miss all you guys at home, but can't wait to share this with you when we get back!!! Tue, 23/sept: Surf, rest, surf, eat, surf, eat, sleep. I got Impossibles so good in the morning, the best waves of the trip so far. This is probably one of my favorite breaks ...
Bali, Indonesia 101travel08Here's a few small things that I will miss about the wonderful country of Indonesia: Relaxing and bodysurfing at beautiful Dreamland beach. Riding around on a 100CC moped with Dee on the back hanging on for her life. The private pool at the Kuta Lagoon resort. Liquid sugar and white pepper condiments. The insane monkeys at the temple. Seeing the daily ritual of shopkeepers placing out offerings ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia cubswin2k5... in and filled out the little information for the time share people, and prepared ourselves for our 90 minute presentation. When the woman came back in we were, luckily, the winners of the one week accommodation, and that we did not have to sit through the presentation. Praise the Lord!! We were outta there. The taxi dropped us at the Centro, which we found out was a giant mall directly on the beach. This only made us hasten our exit from the pit of hell ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia tomandamanda... We are in a village called Penestanan (suburb?), but Ubud is on the map if you want to look it up. Lee tried to withdraw some funds from her checking account at the ATM and it wouldn't give her as much as she wanted. This happened again and finally I remembered...did she report her travel destination and dates to her bank? No she didn't. And we are pretty sure that is why she is limited to smaller amounts of withdrawals (at a time) than we ...

Mutta kunnon younien jalkeen ilmastoidussa huoneessa jatkettiin virkeina matkaa Tanjung Benoaan. Tarkotus oli majottua Lonely Planetin suosittelemaan guesthouseen Tanjung Benoassa mutta meian taksikuski jatti meiat ...
Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia norsu... rice growing if they were not carvers or trades people. Because it became so popular with tourist, much of Bali has been converted to tourism. Now, we talk to many who are scrambling to find something to do, our busses have 10-20% seats full, and the wounds will take a lot of time to heal.
Bali, Indonesia peterandsusan... This was as mistake, especially in the dark as we found ourselves miserably lost. After receiving bogus directions numerous times, we finally found a cheap but lovely room with lush grounds and a beautiful pool, which we stayed up for hours in that night, watching the twinkling stars above. The next morning we got an early start and made our way to meet our bus to start our journey to the famed Gili's. It took us first to the port town ...
