... is obviously still there but there are no beach shacks and the usual clear blue waters are monsoon churned grey waves battering the sand. On top of this the rain didn't stop for the entire time we were there. It was pointless staying, and after 2 days we left.

or “Why do I always have a calf and forearm tan?”

I look at my closet and figure out which of my 5 shirts I want to wear today and which of the 5 pants I will be able to pair with that shirt. I came over even more minimally. Palolem was our second beach stop in Goa, not all that far south from Vagator and Old Goa since it's such a small state. The picture postcard palm-fringed crescent-shaped beach at Palolem is deservedly popular and lined with restaurants and guesthouses. So it's a much busier spot than Vagator and very popular with foreigners with Russians in particular abundance. The seafood is good if not cheap and the sunsets from the beach bars over Singapore Slings sensational.

So I decided that it was time to venture out of my comfort zone and get my own scooter! I made the mistake of telling the man that it was my first time at which point he back tracked and seemed reluctant to lend it to me! After a little bit of persuasion and perhaps a little bit of just driving off with it, I was off on my merry way to Agonda beach 10km north. Balls...no fuel! Right petrol station...holy **** main ...

Their home was a small one room hut - shared by three children, the two women and another who also had wares to sell, several men and goodness knows how many others. There was a little boy about 3 years old asleep on the floor as we arrive who was rolled to the edge of the mat that he was sleeping on to make way for the 'westerners' and another young girl cooking a pot of rice. The jewellery, T-shirts and throws were brought out for us to look at and when we say that ...
