... 10 to 15 minutes of walk to the entrance of The Great Wall. All seats are first come first served. I hope that the time you visit Badaling Great Wall could provide you soft seat tickets in the train. The period of time that I travel in the train did not provide soft seat tickets.

We were lucky in the beginning of the trip. We found empty seats in the train from Beijing North Railway Station to Badaling Station, but good luck didn’t stick with us ...

... Next I went out of the back of the Forbidden Palace to the tube and went a few stations along to the Lama Temple. It is a really cool Buddhist temple which has about 10 temple buildings in this complex, many of them housing really cool statues/carving mainly of Buddha's. The drive took us through Beijing suburbs, which stretched for 20 miles, and then through several villages. We passed through a number of corn fields, which was a surprise (we expected rice?). There was a lot of creative center lane driving. We got used to that after awhile.
