      Finally in 2013 a statue of Dixon Durant is placed I in the historic downtown of Durant ! Met some great people in town. After Durant we went to the Choctaw council house in Tuskahoma...more interesting people! Then drove to Poteau..funny ...

      Had a quick look at the centre of Springfield this morning on our way out - there was a plaque about the city being the instigator of the Route 66 thing in downtown and we were a bit shocked to see a tired, worn out central square, with dry grass, boarded up buildings and lots of mess! We grabbed a takeaway coffee and drove out through more of the same - this is the first place we have been that has looked neglected! That sort of set the theme for the rest of the day ...

      ... farm and I lived in a small suburban area only a mile apart from each other. There seemed to be an overwhelming number of boys of the same age in this neighborhood--"baby boomers". For all us boys to play our sandlot sports the farm chores were always a priority, work first, play later.       ... I owned and shoved them inside the blinds as best as i could. It was a sloppy pain in the ass, but it worked enough to get me to sleep...for about 3 hours until I was woken by police sirens outside my window. Apparently some underage drunk kid plowed a car into another car at the stoplight. We were unable to leave the parking lot for over an hour. Ive never been so happy to leave a state line as I was then....
      Next time, ill take my chances and sleep at the nearest truck ...
