... Gizo Hotel has never had good reviews, but I had hoped they were wrong. Unfortunately the wi fi was abysmal, the pool water was green, hot water infrequent, NO water often, black outs many times.

... we were only there for one day. We flew north to the village of Gizo. Luckily the people are unaffected by what is going on in Honiara. We had an interesting plane ride there. The details of the story are long but basically we had the Prime Ministers uncle and family on the plane. Only he was in a casket in the back with the luggage unbeknownst to us until we got off. - Before going to Fatboys I went online to try and book accommodation in Marovo Lagoon which was going to be my next stop. Most places don't even answer their phone so I knew trying to get somewhere online was a bit ambitious, so I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved!) when Matikuri Eco Lodge, my second choice, not only had a website but a booking form!

- On arriving at Gizo town, I went to look for a Resthouse that had been recommended in my LP guide. It was up a hill and the steps were uneven and steep.It was agony I tell you! When I got to the top I discovered that they were full but the girl running the Resthouse, Patrina, said Phoebe's Resthouse was nearby and she took me there.
