      ... at Melbas and mingling with the players, namely the scottish team because the gals knew Struan so spent a lot of time chatting to and catching up with him. It was a good night, of dancing and mingling but a rough day on Monday. We all woke up sleepy and hungover and had to check out by 10am.       When we finished that we went for a John Papuni mystery walk through the shopping centre until Kate wanted to know where we were going. Just looking around said John but Kate who by this time was suffering from near heat exhaustion said we were going to go back across the river and somehow get some refreshment.

      ... br> We then headed down to the mall where I bought a sweater, not that I need another one. And Heather bought some cheap undergarments. We were being picked up at 5:30pm so we headed for the hostel to change into warmer clothes around 4:30pm. This is when we met our crazy 70+ year old roommate. No joke. She had a boom box and a binder full of CDs. It looked like she had been there awhile and she was pretty crazy looking. We quickly changed and then got out.

      ... this on the bus, my first with leather seats and free wifi so I'm very happy! My next stop is Brisbane, only a fly in stop but I'll wizz round and see what there is! I'm quite glad to be leaving surfers paradise, it didn't live up to expectations. I hope Brisbane will be about more interesting and not so plasticky. Speak soon, I'm off to download some films for the next few days, may as well use up all of the free wifi while I can! ...

      ... was tediously slow. They say practice makes perfect. Well, after a day practicing I'd say I'm no closer to perfect. I feel I should point out the surf wasn't ideal today. Don't think even the most experienced professional could've made much of it today. The waves certainly weren't conducive to a naive amateur like myself learning the ropes.
