We only stayed for one night but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was really nice.

We are so glad we chose this one. Great location, facilities and customer service. Right on the beach so we can watch the seals and whales from our huge luxury room. Outdoor fireplaces along the beach front so we can enjoy a chat with new friend and toast marshmallows.
Fire place in every room, king size beds and rooms with fully stocked bar fridge (max price $5) and great coffee makers. Even has its own self use laundry. Great food at the restaurant. This paradise is closest to Hearst Castle and the lovely town of Cumbria.

This property has several features that make it feel much more luxe than it in reality is.

You are right smack dab on one of the prettiest stretches of Pacific you could hope to find with unimpeded views.

The rooms are large, clean and have some nice touches, fireplaces (real), a bowl full of amenities and robes. You will quickly forgive that they are a bit dated.

Another great touch is they have several fire pits along the ocean edge of the property that they stoke and light at night where guests can help themselves to one of the chairs and enjoy being able to listen to the roaring waves while staying toasty warm...nice!

... weather is absolutely outstanding, bright and clear, the water is crystal blue, the mountains are soft shades of green. Miles and miles of beauty that will stay in my mind forever. It is so nice to share this trip with friends. We decided to switch drivers so I could take some pictures as we drove along. Soon we reach Big Sur and stop at a little restaurant for lunch. My pictures here will include a bird that joined us for lunch and some very pretty flowers ...

The estate is a pastiche of historic architectural styles that Hearst admired in his travels around Europe and his architect Julia Morgan designed the buildings to meet with his specifications.
