... for a while until they decided to crank up the music and close the window to drown out their argument. Darn...I was enjoying that. (something about some missing money...uh oh)
A van full o' people showed up late at night with a crying infant in tow. Babies just love camping; which this one proved by shrieking nearly every other hour throughout the night.
... customers and flies perched on all the condiments. Not to be deterred we ordered 6 oysters and a couple of Po Boy rolls.
Back at our campsite we went for an evening swim and a walk along the beach (all very romantic stuff i think you'll agree). Met up with the Sachs who were once again showing off their culinary skills with a Steak and Mozzarella dinner. Me and Les went for an equally challenging dinner of Nutella and peanut butter sandwiches.
... It was all pretty delicious although our waiter was a little scatterbrained. Even the Bonefish Grill gave Chris a box of chocolates for his birthday....I can't wait till Christmas.
M&L then took us to the fabulous Pier Park for a visit to the Hofbrauhaus, where we all had some tasty beers and Chris had a birthday shot of Killerpitsch (A German favorite apparently) . We sat down for a while and pretended we were in Germany and watched a man and his dog being ...
... steps from our site. Here we met a fabulous Daiquiri Shack worker named Rob, who although he turned out to be quite a bit racist he did make quite delicious Daiquiris.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I'm excited to find out what surprises Les has in store for me. It's sure to be a good one since i did quit my job and take her around America.
Point of note today we broke through the 7000 miles driven barrier.
Boys are still in Tallahassee, so I got to spend time w my sisters, taking them to see the houses I saw & they loved my favorite one! We laugh so hard when we're together! Lunch at Finn's & I am learning my way around pcb! Picked up the boys & got ready to leave for northern Alabama. Went over to visit w one of my favorite people, Shea's mom, Wendy. I just love her! Took the kids to Funtown where we played lots of games (skeeball!) & won lots of ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Casa Loma Inn Panama City Beach
Fantastic Hotel -- The reviews I read were all wrong!
After reading all of the reviews I was hesitant to book here - but had 3 friends who stayed and their opinion of the hotel was reverse of any the ones posted here. I had a great time, rooms are great, all beachfront, private balconies and staff were all super - Betty and Gloria fantastic - cleaniest I have seen - NO MOLD - No Mildew or no bugs!!! Great seven day stays - thanks
All I have to say is watch out for the cockroaches. Oh yeah, and if you find some don't expect to get refunded anything. Actually they charged me for an extra night after I brought it to there attention that they had cockroaches.
Our family, in planning our trip to the Florida panhandle--including an overnight in Panama City Beach--was leery of staying at the Casa Loma for several reasons. We knew of the town's reputation for spring breakers (heck, this was August!), but we were in PCB for our daughter to live her dream of becoming a dolphin trainer. Gulf World Marine Park is just down the road. Understand, the reviews had been less that, uh, magnificent. I guess it helped that we checked in on a Sunday night and that we asked for a quiet room. It was at that point, though, the clerk inquired, "in Panama City Beach?" The evening, despite a few guests hanging by the back railing when we arrived ("oh, great"!), turned out fine. We made several observations. Being right on the water was a plus. The pool was absolutely the best we had on our two-week vacation of the Deep South. We saw people cleaning the premises and the security staff, while present--even at 6:30a.m.--was low-key.Our room was, well, kinda cheeful in that vibrant Florida teal decor. No doubt the humidity does a number on the rooms and floors, but we found the bare floor cold and unforgiving. Wish there had been a rug.We suspect had we stayed during another month, on another night, our overall positive review could very well have been something just the opposite.I only wish the general manager had responded to our Email when we first inquired about the Casa Loma. And, sad to say, I also have to give thumbs down to the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau for failing to respond, as well, to our E-mail questions.Three stars out of five.
Nasty, moldy, rude!!!!!!!
NASTY, NASTY, NASTY. This place was so disgusting. We got into our bed at night and it was almost soaking wet from all the mildew. The kitchenette was nasty I was afraid to turn on the stove. We did go the week Tropical Storm Isadore hit but still it was nasty before it hit.
Our lock would work properly. When we asked to be moved to a different room BETTY blamed it on the storm ok the storm was still way out in the gulf. I will never stay in that place again and recommend you not to either. To bad I did not know about Tripadvisor sooner!
This was just about the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. At $200 a night for a two bedroom suite you would think it would be clean.
The Place for you if you like Mildew!
Our Family Group stayed here. The rooms are old and smell wet. The bathroom showers have mildew, mold, and other fuzziness that was truly Gross! We had to spend 5 nights here. If our rooms had not been prepaid for months, I would have checked out and taken my family elsewhere. This was one vacation that I was glad to have over with so that we could go home. Too bad we didn't know about Trip Advisor before we booked. I really value the Reviews. Book elsewhere, trust me.
The hotel was not worth the cost. The service was not that horrible until we left. The manager, Betty, should be fired! They still owe us our deposit from March and they refuse to give it back. Everytime we call they have another reason and they lie every single time. They are holding 200 dollars of ours and have no intention of giving it back. Our room was in the condition that we got it so it has nothing to do with that, they are just trying to scam us. To anyone who is thinking about staying here, dont, they are stealing from the customers! and i hope they don't think they are going to keep our money!
Just to get away
Myself and two friends stayed at this hotel for 5 days. I loved the location and the staff were extremely nice. We relaxed and were not bothered by anyone. I'd stay again.
Had to cancel 4 days after I made the reservation. They offered no cancellation confirmation number or anything. I asked if I would be charged, they told me "no". A month later, after I would have taken my trip I was charged over $150 for the room deposit, plus bank fees for bounced checks. I never authorized the charge...Also spoke to Betty, my mother and father too, VERY VERY RUDE!!! Bank is investigating. Good luck to those who have reservations already!
The Best Western Casa Loma was absolutely repulsive. The service was horrible and the staff, especially BETTY was completely rude. The rooms were nasty. The bathroom had no bathtub and the toilet was like a public toilet. The kitchenette had no plates, glasses, utensils, cooking wear, etc. The floors were disgusting and dirty, and the grounds were pathetic. The beach was gross and very unclean. We were lied to about the accomodations and told that our rooms would have two bedrooms, two baths, and a fold out loveseat. It had none of the above. None of the rooms there had these. The rates were extremely high for such a hideous place.
