Fantastic Hotel -- The reviews I read were all wrong!
After reading all of the reviews I was hesitant to book here - but had 3 friends who stayed and their opinion of the hotel was reverse of any the ones posted here. I had a great time, rooms are great, all beachfront, private balconies and staff were all super - Betty and Gloria fantastic - cleaniest I have seen - NO MOLD - No Mildew or no bugs!!! Great seven day stays - thanks
All I have to say is watch out for the cockroaches. Oh yeah, and if you find some don't expect to get refunded anything. Actually they charged me for an extra night after I brought it to there attention that they had cockroaches.
Not Bad Despite Negative Reviews
Our family, in planning our trip to the Florida panhandle--including an overnight in Panama City Beach--was leery of staying at the Casa Loma for several reasons. We knew of the town's reputation for spring breakers (heck, this was August!), but we were in PCB for our daughter to live her dream of becoming a dolphin trainer. Gulf World Marine Park is just down the road. Understand, the reviews had been less that, uh, magnificent. I guess it helped that we checked in on a Sunday night and that we asked for a quiet room. It was at that point, though, the clerk inquired, "in Panama City Beach?" The evening, despite a few guests hanging by the back railing when we arrived ("oh, great"!), turned out fine. We made several observations. Being right on the water was a plus. The pool was absolutely the best we had on our two-week vacation of the Deep South. We saw people cleaning the premises and the security staff, while present--even at 6:30a.m.--was low-key.Our room was, well, kinda cheeful in that vibrant Florida teal decor. No doubt the humidity does a number on the rooms and floors, but we found the bare floor cold and unforgiving. Wish there had been a rug.We suspect had we stayed during another month, on another night, our overall positive review could very well have been something just the opposite.I only wish the general manager had responded to our Email when we first inquired about the Casa Loma. And, sad to say, I also have to give thumbs down to the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau for failing to respond, as well, to our E-mail questions.Three stars out of five.
Nasty, moldy, rude!!!!!!!
NASTY, NASTY, NASTY. This place was so disgusting. We got into our bed at night and it was almost soaking wet from all the mildew. The kitchenette was nasty I was afraid to turn on the stove. We did go the week Tropical Storm Isadore hit but still it was nasty before it hit.
Our lock would work properly. When we asked to be moved to a different room BETTY blamed it on the storm ok the storm was still way out in the gulf. I will never stay in that place again and recommend you not to either. To bad I did not know about Tripadvisor sooner!
This was just about the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. At $200 a night for a two bedroom suite you would think it would be clean.
Bathroom had rust around the floors, mold in the corners, and some type of scale around the door. It was also barely enough room to turn around in considrering the toilet and shower were in about a 4x5 room. (sink was outside the bathroom door.)Refrigderator had no handle and looked like someone had a field day on the front with a hammer! I don't think they ever swept the floor our entire stay. We have a 9 month old baby that had to be held all week because of the tile floors. Imagine wrestling with a crawler for that amount of time. We were told to leave our balcony door CLOSED and air on HIGH so that the floor would not get wet from all the moisture. We had 8 people (5kids)with us in 2 vehicles in a two room suite but were only allowed 1 parking space. Overflow parking was 1/2 mile down the street. And of course the little parking lady was not the nicest. We will never stay there again. Also the ''baby bed'' was a fold up portable crib that was cloth covered that gave me a full size sheet to cover the pad with.My child slept with us not in a drool stained port-a-crib.You could also smell sewage near the pool.Never stay there!!!!!
The Place for you if you like Mildew!
Our Family Group stayed here. The rooms are old and smell wet. The bathroom showers have mildew, mold, and other fuzziness that was truly Gross! We had to spend 5 nights here. If our rooms had not been prepaid for months, I would have checked out and taken my family elsewhere. This was one vacation that I was glad to have over with so that we could go home. Too bad we didn't know about Trip Advisor before we booked. I really value the Reviews. Book elsewhere, trust me.
The hotel was not worth the cost. The service was not that horrible until we left. The manager, Betty, should be fired! They still owe us our deposit from March and they refuse to give it back. Everytime we call they have another reason and they lie every single time. They are holding 200 dollars of ours and have no intention of giving it back. Our room was in the condition that we got it so it has nothing to do with that, they are just trying to scam us. To anyone who is thinking about staying here, dont, they are stealing from the customers! and i hope they don't think they are going to keep our money!
Just to get away
Myself and two friends stayed at this hotel for 5 days. I loved the location and the staff were extremely nice. We relaxed and were not bothered by anyone. I'd stay again.
Had to cancel 4 days after I made the reservation. They offered no cancellation confirmation number or anything. I asked if I would be charged, they told me "no". A month later, after I would have taken my trip I was charged over $150 for the room deposit, plus bank fees for bounced checks. I never authorized the charge...Also spoke to Betty, my mother and father too, VERY VERY RUDE!!! Bank is investigating. Good luck to those who have reservations already!
The Best Western Casa Loma was absolutely repulsive. The service was horrible and the staff, especially BETTY was completely rude. The rooms were nasty. The bathroom had no bathtub and the toilet was like a public toilet. The kitchenette had no plates, glasses, utensils, cooking wear, etc. The floors were disgusting and dirty, and the grounds were pathetic. The beach was gross and very unclean. We were lied to about the accomodations and told that our rooms would have two bedrooms, two baths, and a fold out loveseat. It had none of the above. None of the rooms there had these. The rates were extremely high for such a hideous place.

Our penultimate day on the road saw us make our way to Panama City for a stop over at a beach resort. Situated on the Gulf of Mexico the resort boasts white sand and warm water, with a generous pool and splash park it is a great place for a family vacation. We were greeted by a tropical storm which saw the pool closed due to the numerous lighting bolts lighting up the sky.Our plan ...
Woke up today to the overwhelming humidity in our tent. I got up and meandered about for the morning doing laundry, showering and lazing by the pool. Once I got all my errands out of the way. Headed down to the beach, the heat was already unbelievably harsh. Needless to say I didn't spend a lot of time on the beach but instead was frolicking around in the water. The water was surprisingly warm and almost was too warm to cool you down to a comfortable temperature. After ...
... on our 5 hour trip :/ the whole arvo was a blur until we arrived at our campsite in Panama City beach. It was pretty hot and humid when we arrived so setting up camp wasn't exactly ideal, sweat dripping everywhere. Once the tents were up I was on cooking duty so we got to it. We were making burgers which turned out to be pretty popular amongst the group. Everything got cleaned up and we spent the night sitting around drinking and chatting before people retreated to their ...
... But, now it’s time for a comeback to reality once again.
We had a fast trip on the train late Wednesday from Florence to Rome and transferred to a regional train for the last ride to Fiumicino Aeroporto. The Italian countryside flew by at about 170 MPH, slower than from Venice :>) and I am sharing some snapshots of the rolling hills we passed on the journey. Take a look at how the trees close to the train ...

Then I found a cotton on and picked up some new shorts that don't have my **** hanging out, winning!!We pulled into PCB at 3 so obvs everyone raced to get to the beach, I wondered down for about 15 mins ...
