Hotel Casa del Mar Cozumel
Travel Blogs from Cozumel
Traveling from Cancun Also if you are considering flying into Cancun and taking ground transportation down, don't let everyone scare you from taking that option. It thought it was pretty easy and not very expensive at all. If I remember correctly we took a bus to Playa del Carmen for 8 usd. It was a very nice charter bus that had air condition. Get …
... Murray was bitten by an angry fish on his foot drawing blood, we lounged in the luxury of their setting and ordered a few coffees. Ahhh...perfect. We walked another 2kms north to the next destination, Playa Azul. Again, traversing through another large scale resort we were met by the most crystal clear water and florescent white sand carved out in a few little bays. The Mexican beaches did not disappoint. After a little more snorkeling the local band The Red ...
Good morning at 6:00 am. We get ready for the day and head up to get some breakfast and coffee. While we are eating we are getting updates on arrival at Cozumel. It's now 7 am, we have arrived at port and you can feel the excitement from everyone on board the ship. We are ready for the fun of the day to begin. It is a beautiful port, there are many shops lining the boardwalk but most of them are not open at this ...
... mandatory surface interval. Steven had a headache, so we skipped the second dive. After the second dive, we headed back to Cozumel and spent a little time at the port and then went back to the ship.
For dinner, I had red snapper and Steven had lasagne. Steven had a piece of pumpkin pie which was awful.
How has this resort rated in the past?

Friendly service, good location
We stayed in an oceanview room in early December 2004. Slightly larger than the gardenviews we looked into, but no real ocean view. The staff is excellent; I had a couple of special requests and they scrambled to try to meet them. Pillows and bed very firm but I like that. The restaurant is not bad, and it is a quick (40-peso) taxi ride into town. Divers can get picked up at the pier across the street.
Just awesome. Not fancy, not flashy but clean, convenient and the staff is nothing but helpful and nice. Each staff member to pride in making our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. This was my first trip to Cozumel and while I was there I completed the PADI Scuba Open Water Course. The Del Mar aquatics center is helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is quite and inviting and you will know the names of the staff by the time you leave and they will now you. I will be back.
In Luv with Cozumel
Hotel Case del Mar is outstanding. For the short amount of time actually spent in the hotel itself, there is no better value for our dollar. The staff if wonderful, being a return visitor they greet us by name and treat us like family. The morning breakfast is a wonderful way to start the day whether we choose to lounge at the pool or tour the island. We will be back Casa del Mar, home by the sea.
Friendly place with family feel
Great value. The deal we got from worry free vacations was incredible. Firm pillows - bring your own. Breakfast buffet was nice to start the day with. Cleaning lady made the towels into real works of art. It was a thrill to come back to the room and find something new every day. Beach is close to nonexistent but this is the case for most hotels on the north central part of the island. There is great access to multiple dive shops nearby. The hotel is clean, air conditioning works, water is hot in the shower. Great friendly place with family atmosphere. Keep it in mind that it is not a glitzy resort but it is an exceptional value in its class.
Friendly, Relaxing, Reasonable
We have stayed at the Casa Del Mar 5 or 6 times and can't wait to get back. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is great. The best close to shore snorkeling is right there and they have their own dive shop. They know what they are doing there! It is close enough to town that you could walk..We choose to take a cab. I will say that for the times of year that we have gone, the pool is a little chilly, but that didn't stop us from swimming up to the bar.
There is also a handy little store near by if you want some in room snacks.
Great value at quiet Casa del Mar
I have stayed at much more expensive hotels on Cozumel, but found the Casa del Mar to be a great value as well as quieter and more quaint.
Our 3 nite 4 day stay with free breakfast and $30 drink allowence was a great deal!!! The pool was never crowded and the entire grounds are beautifully landscaped in native flora. Plenty of hot water for showers, big fluffly pillows, but like most hotels in Mexico, the mattress was VERY hard. My husband had difficulty sleeping with his back problem. We would stay there again, but bring some sort of padding for the bed. No more 4 star hotels for me on Cozumel, this 2 star little beauty suits me just fine even though its geared toward scuba divers of which I am not.
We have vacationed in Mazatlan, PV, Cancun, and Manzanillo, over the last 20+ years. This was our first visit to Casa Del-Mar. The reason we titled our review as a true taste of Mexican heart was all about the staff who manage and work at Casa Del-Mar. Within hours of our arrival the waiters knew our names and room numbers. We had lost a suit case at the airport - that was found and returned to us within two hours. The food was all good, the complimenary breakfasts included omlets, waffles, potatoes, juices, coffee etc . nothing held back... Our cleaning lady - Ofelia - what a jewel. We will return - as will a few others we've recommended this fun reosrt to already. One sleeping comment - if you Don't care for large firm pillows - bring you own from home... otherwise - rooms were comfortable - airconditioning worked great the plenty of hot water for showers. We had a wonderful time when we stayed at casa del mar!
We stayed at the casa del mar on our last trip to cozumel nice rooms friendly staff we had the breakfast plan which was nice to have a good breakfast buffet every morning then off to go wherever some days we just stayed there to lay by the nice pool they have. the water is across the road but they have a overhead bridge to walk on. dont pay extra for the ocean view we did and it wasnt worth it. the garden view or pool view is just as nice. not first class but you get what you pay for! we never go first class anyway some friends of our do and so they cant go as often as we can. so if your going on a budget try this one its a good place.
Wonderful place especially for a diver. Nice Pool with swim up bar.
No frills thrill
If you like high rise, flashy resorts this is not the place for you. Being on first name bases with the entire staff after 2 days, great food, especially the tortilla soup and ceviche, and a great location for rides to the marina and to downtown with a modest "beach" are the appeals of Casa Del Mar hotel.
