... ordered a normal one and a tropical variety. Any food order got you a Singapore Sling cocktail shaker so truffle chips were duly ordered. The normal one was smooth and tasty, the tropical a bit too sharp. The bar was full of tourists but you could still feel the colonial undercurrent. The fans, shaped as Palm leaves, swept side to side on the ceiling cooling the room, peanuts in bowls were shelled and the shells discarded onto the floor ...

After a feverish night a leisurely day ensued, getting into a dress, checking out and taking a taxi to Raffles for brunch. This was to celebrate a friends birthday for a relaxing 3hr meal. If we thought the burger at Monte Carlo was expensive, well this is about the same - more than $45 ...

I have had such a wonderful and productive day discovering around the Bugis area as well as Kampong Glam. For a group of seniors in our 70s, we do not expect to visit crowded and busy shopping malls in Singapore, we looked forward to visit the Bugis area since the area have not been too urbanised compared to other area in Singapore. We are seniors from Hong Kong, where the lifestyle and the beliefs are somewhat like ...

... nice things, but expensive! We kept walking around the city, did a massive walk. We ended up back in the same alley way where we had drinks and had dinner at a Chinese restaurant outside. It was rather nice, we had beef green curry, and beef with spicy sauce. We paid approx €40 and then went and had another cider at the bar before heading back to hotel. We were impressed with now light it is to so late. We went bed at 10, but still very ...
