We had our first full day in Singapore on Wednesday - after a slightly later start than planned, as we all slept in, had a late breakfast, and then had to go and buy an umbrella (which would have been much cheaper had we the presence of mind to do this in Vietnam, where they were practically giving them away!). As it was showery, we decided to do shops and sightseeing. So we headed for Raffles, had a look there (too early ...

Our flight left from Zurich at 10 pm and we arrived in Singapore at 5pm local time. Flight was 12.5 hours and wasn't too bad. Flights are always long and boring and neither of us got much sleep as the plane was really hot when we boarded and never cooled off till breakfast time. The people here are very rich, and prices are quite high compared to other places in Asia and about the same as in Canada. I spent 4 days here seeing the sights.
I stayed at the Green Kiwi Hostel. I found out later there are 2 Green Kiwi Hostels and the better location is the one located ...

... So when an cubicle was free, I ventured to make sure there was a toilet and not a hole there, no matter how urgent I had to go, there was no way I was going to squat!!.

Our driver was waiting for us which was great, the airport is awesome, waterfall's and gardens just about everywhere we looked. We didn't know what hit us as we stepped outside, the heat was oppressive, and we have till the 1st June, hopefully we'll get use to it. We had dinner at about 10 last ...

... been restored but are surrounded by apartment blocks. On the edge of Chinatown we found the City Gallery which tells the story of the planning history and transformation of Singapore. The recently deceased first prime minister of the State, Lee Kuan Yew, was a true visionary. He ruled with a hard fist but united the ethnic groups and had a city designed 50 years ago - with the help of UNO experts - that would ...
