      ... nosed proper dogs with no interest in people or cuddles. I later found out many of them just roam and have no owners but they all look in good nick and very hansom. We stopped for some view picks and at a market to get fruit for while we waited for the wind. They also took us to a brown sugar making place, 2 huts, one chopped bamboo and the other burnt the bamboo with 3 large pots ontop where they cooked sugar cane into a liquid before letting it dry, crushing it and packaging ...

      ... number of brick buildings. I suspect that we were probably the first westerners ever to have come through there, and the reactions of the people were just amazing - especially the children who were delighted to get a wave or to have their photo taken.  After the village faded away, the track wound through the jungle and around one corner you would see the face of a Macaque monkey looking at you from a roadside tree, and around another you would get a stunning ...

      ... no wonder), we were told we would stop for dinner and breakfast, which never happened so we starved for the whole ride, people were smoking just next to us in a bus with closed windows (Indonesian men, like Chinese men are chain smokers), and finally we arrived 3 hours after schedule.

      ... size and not too close to the Mosque!

      The hotel was only about 4 months old, very modern and fresh. We had a hot water shower and a TV with only 1 English channel on, a religious channel....great! So we had that and the Mosque next door. I knew we would be getting a 5.15 am wake up call daily!

      We ate at Turret Cafe on our first night,the Beef Rendang was lovely,it's a speciality here. The owner was really lovely as were the staff.Their English was excellent ...
