Bah humbug! Did not feel like leaving the cabin and was sulking. We were planning to get up early to get going - but as usual things do not go according to plan. It's hard to be efficient when you have a view of trees and a lake and our mocking jay pair visiting to say hello. Plus it was still dark at 7am. ... that Roger had including a snow mobile - that sounds like fun. I cannot believe how much snow they have here in the winter. I also learned that mountain lions are actually huge - like the size of a proper lion - and hide up in trees. I'm glad that I didn't know this camping! I had a moment of worry when I heard a rustling in the trees and saw a cat - it was huge but it was only the cute family kitty rolling ...
... the Gatorade chews and Sophie a bottled water to hand off to Kirk. He had already begun to slow in his pace. Would he make it during the amount of time he had set as a personal goal? Could he stay on pace? Only time would tell. And then.....the hills began, 14 miles into the race.

... guys examined the rear tire and tube; after much inspection, they discovered the offending sliver of glass. Many apologies later and no charge for the upgrade to the Slime tube (self-sealing) Surly was reracked on the CRV and hopefully, this time, the tire was fixed.
