      ... collected some brochures and an Ohio state map and headed south to Moundsville where the burial mound is located. Not much thought went into the naming of that town. The mound is an ancient burial ground which was built by the prehistoric Adena people. We walked to the top to look over the town. The museum attached had some interesting artefacts and carries out archaeological and research activities.

      ... such as high-rope courses and small plots of crops. All-in-all it was an interesting and somewhat undervalued walk. We also took the opportunity for Donelle to take out one of the cars from the pool-scheme for a drive for an hour. Despite a little nervousness to start with she took to it like a duck to water, I guess all the riding around in taxis and buses must have made her familiar with driving on the wrong side of the road.       After an uneventful drive we got to Athens and Donelle's apartment for the year. I spent that evening and the next day taking it easy while she attended to her study commitments. Donelle's apartment is part of a big complex in a quiet new estate on one of the hills that surround the town.
