Bidding farewell to my fellow meditators, I decided that another round of Chiang Mai was in order. My previous trip here (in late September) was basically for trekking/thai cooking, I didn't get the chance to really discover the true magic of the North. So I boarded the night train from Surat Thani to Bangkok, spent the day in Bangkok (the heat is stifling there) before boarding another night train to Chiang Mai. Unfortunately its the beginning of the high season, so the place is filled to th...
Chiang Mai, Thailand clrglobaltrekThursday 3rd June It was a lovely day in Krabi a bit coller than on the East Coast but still sunny and in the high 20s. We decided to chill out and do nothing today and check out Krabi town and take a walk along the mangrove rkiver. We had a lovely breakfast with the best coffee I have ever tasted at a little place near our guest house which set us up for the day. We soon realised that there isn't much to Krabi, its a nice enough fishing town but more of a stop off to other places and islands...

... lunch and a short rest, we went drove for a short while further into the hills and jungle by săwngthăew (converted pickup truck taxi). Our afternoon was a little more active with a hike of between 2-3 hours to a village of the Palong people, where a guide prepared a wonderful local meal for us. Our accommodation was simple - a small wooden hut, just like the villagers ...

How can a glass of not very special wine cost more than Long Island Iced Teas?
WORDS TO THE WISE
Lots of wise maxims to be found at one of the wats we visited. Check out the photos for some of them. (Thought of you David and your wipeable wisdoms)
... ass but when I bit into a piece, I found that it was 80% bone and 20% fat - it was disgusting. After trying the chicken ass I was reluctant to try the kidney so I just threw them away and went to class hungry.
Today we learned back, legs, and arm massage techniques. After class, I took a nap and partied with some people from my hotel... the kebabs were pretty much the highlight of my day.
... of paper, so there is no argument when you get there and the driver asks for 200B (US$5.70/£3.10) instead of the 20B (60¢/30p) you agreed on.By Car -- Avis has an office conveniently located at the airport (tel.05320-1798; www.avisthailand.com). Avis self-drive rental rates for Chiang Mai are the same as they are elsewhere in Thailand, from 2,500B and up (US$71/£38) for a ...
Chiangmai, Thailand adisai2550... have 5-6 that go eat lunches and dinners together. Tomorrow, we get to play a game that is kind of like hacky-sack. I'll try to take a picture of Tia playing so everyone can get a chuckle. I'm going to bed. I heard that UNC won the championship. Jesse is actually a Michigan State grad, so he was following the outcome pretty close. I hate UNC. My sentences are getting shorter....I must lseep. Pictures of some Chiang Mai streets:
Chiang Mai, Thailand caseycarpenter... We decided to eat instead and went to their restaurant Baan Soong Thai. The Thai food is excellent but the American breakfast leaves a little to be desired. Their shakes are considered Icees in America but good anyway. After eating they moved us to a twin with a little extra. Ants... to say the least we were moved to a different room this time a double where we will remain for out stay. The staff is very happy to help you but understand very little ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand savageharmony... Money is cheap, your soul is priceless. Anything can be bought, but here there are no returns or even store credit. All you get is buyers remorse in the form of a hangover, some embarassing photos on facebook, a nasty credit card statement or a weight that just gets heavier. I'll stick with the hangover. The folks practice their religion religiously but couldn't care less if others do or not. Live and let live. It is heart to see someone almost ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand donmiller... of which were beginning to separate. All of us sat while one of us poled us down the river. Our raft must have been a bit overloaded since for the 1st half of the 20 minute journey we were floating about 6 inches BELOW the water! We eventually had to get off and re-shift the weight. It was fun though and a great way to travel down river. Once the white water and bamboo rafting adventures were complete, we settled in to an AMAZING pad thai lunch and then ...
