Went for morning walk along cable beach. It's low tide and beach is 200m+ wide. A mature Osprey glides past us low over the water. Good coffee and muffin at Zanders is our reward. Drive into town to dispose of 20L Steel Jerry can, Esky with cold bricks, 20L plastic tub (our dry food storage), Cutlery, plates etc. All brand new in Darwin, now …

Green Mango was this mornings choice for a caffeine hit, before a wander in and around the numerous pearl shops. Those pearls are priced for Arab oil Shieks, although I didn't see any. We wander back towards Cable beach, along suburban streets for a while. Huh, no Croc sightings at Cable since 2:30pm yesterday and beach is open with lots of …

Nothing on the agenda today, but take it easy. A slow start then head into town for coffee. Hey what are all these cars here for. Somethings going on. Oh, its the Saturday market at the old courthouse. Markets are one of favourite things, so find a car park anc deny caffeine for 1 hour as we wander the large market of tourist trinkets, clothes, …

A travel blog entry by dles3222 on Jul 21, 2016

Cant sleep, up before dawn. Gotta pack the car and drive back to Broome today. The dirt road is not good even though we are told it was graded 3 weeks ago, Anyhow we head straight to Dragon Fly cafe for coffee, then around to Cable Beach to check in at Broome Beach Resort, into Geoffs unit, (now the Manger childrens unit) Then we hand in our comfy …

Broome Pearls - Exotic Pearls from Australia

... enhancing and escalating production. By World War 1 when the price of mother-of-pearl plummeted, Broome had been the centre of an industry that supplied up to 70% of global demand for the shell. The scenario drastically changed during World War 2 though when Broome was bombed. However with 15 boats employing around 200 people Broome somehow rebuilt its pearling industry once again.

          Industry,

AS an industry, Broome's pearling centers are ...
