Historical Traveler Reviews of Breezes Curacao All Inclusive Willemstad

WOW!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
WOW,

We just came back from spending a great week at the Breezes Curacao. My wife, my two teenage daughters and I had such a great time there over Christmas.

We left Toronto at 6:10 on Saturday December 21st. After a nice direct flight, we arrived in Curacao around noon (their time). Custom check was speedy. Right after custom, we were welcomed by The Breezes representatives. Our check-in was completed in less than 2 minutes and we borded a bus for the resort. Things happend so we had the oportunity to look at the scenery for an additional 5 minutes on top of the giant bridge in Willemstad... the bus driver had some problems to change gears... That's OK, the view was lovely.

We arrived at the resort and, since we already had our keys, went straight to our room. The room was clean, well supplied and we enjoyed the A/C to cool off a bit.

We spent a wonderful week having to make decisions all the time such as... which pool should I use, which drink should I order, which food I should eat, which activity should I do today. What a rought time...

The food was so good (I loved the beef tenderloin...) and there was a great choice to choose from. The problem with the food was that my tummy could take only so much...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They smiled all the time. Superclub Breezes took over the resort last year so some of the staff is still in training. You just need to be a bit patient and smile and they will do all their best to accomodate all your needs.

I went snorkelling every day and diving once. It was magic. So many species of fish and the water is so clear and warm (OK, I come from the north where water is always cold...).

We went twice to town. There is nobody bothering you or asking for money. We felt very secured. There is not much to buy though other than cheap t-shirts or ...expensive jewellery.

I would recommend the place to anybody who want to relax with their family. Just take it easy and enjoy!!

Family vacation

Our family (7 of us including our 18 month old grandson) just returned from a week at Breezes resort in Curacao. We had a great time! We were getting a little nervous before the trip as we had read some bad revues and were wondering what we had gotten ourselves into. Thankfully everything was just great. The weather is always warm and beautiful--we had a total of 15 minutes rain shower one morning. The breeze blows constantly which keeps you from getting sweaty or having any bugs around. You need nothing but a swim suit and a few nicer things for dinner if you like. It's a great place to bring children. We didn't know it at first, but found out they take care of children from infants to 12 years in their kids club from 9am to 6pm. They were great with our grandson and he loved it. There are non-stop activities that are great fun if you choose to be adventerous. I learned to scuba dive, fly on a trapeze and still managed to try every tropical drink I could think of. The rooms were very nice--although no one stays in them except to sleep. The food is very good--especially the Japanese dinners--you won't leave disappointed or hungry. Some of the staff is young and still learning, but others are very fun and try hard to make the stay a good one. If you can't have a good time here in paradise, I don't know what's the matter with you. It's a terrific value and a fabulous way to take the family on vacation that is worry free!

Don't go to Breezes Curacao

from A TripAdvisor Member
We Visited Breezes Curacao in March 2002. There is not enough space for the amount of poor service, terrible management, questionable facilities, bad food, and low-class accommodations at Breezes. The general manager is an incompetent jerk. The Superclubs "guarantee" for reimbursement borders on the criminal. From the moment we walked in, I knew I made a mistake. We waited on line for an hour to check-in. The room we were assigned was ALREADY occupied by a woman sleeping in bed. We went to other rooms also occupied by other vacationers. We finally ended with a lower-category room that was filthy. PLEASE, don't waste your money!

Fun and Fabulous for Family

Fun and Fabulous for Family

I went with husband and 2 children, ages 16 and 11. We are all very active, but with diverse interests. We had so much fun! The entertainment staff was great. Friendly, energetic and always pleasant. There was always something going on. My teenager learned to dive and loved it. He spent time playing volleyball and water volleyball. The 11 year old became a snorkeling maniac and loved splashing around in the many pools which were clean and in excellent condition. Everyone loved the rock-climbing wall on the beach. There was a circus trapeze with excellent instruction. Both kids and adults got to "fly". LOVED the Soca, salsa, merengue lessons. The food was O.K. (my assessment) Plenty of choices, though. Now, the kids thought the food was GREAT. The burgers were really good, but I'm more of a salad person. Best bet: fabulous soups and ethnic offerings.

The rooms were average for tropical climates. A little mouldy around the caulking and hot water comes and goes depending on the time of day. If you are used to traveling to Jamaica, you may find that the Curacao-ans(?) are more reserved. some interpret this as aloof or unfriendly. To the person I found that if you make an effort to strike up a conversation, they are lovely friendly people. They just don't try to engage you in conversation without an invitation.

Beach: course sand that is very clean. They "rake" the beach every morning. In the shallows, there are uncomfortable rocks. Wear water shoes or just get used to it. We were amazed at the variety of colorful fish to see while snorkeling right there on the property. Snorkelling was incredible. The equipment was good, too. Skilled watersports personel can take you out on one of the catamarans. That was fun. Or you can go out on your own or go windsurfing or paddle boats. We NEVER had to wait. Just walk up to somebody on the entertainment staff or watersports staff and ask. DONE.

You are also in walking distance of a great sea aquarium museum, but warning - they gouge you on the admision fees. We went and enjoyed it, only to find that we later saw the same fish as we snorkelled in the resort's cove (for free).

Go, go, go to Breezes Curacao. Don't hesitate. This is a great destination for families. So much to do no mater what your age.

Breezes Curacao:Recommended

from A TripAdvisor Member
I recommend that anyone with a thirst for a great island resort go to Breezes Curacao. Although the island of Curacao is not much, the resort is one you never have to leave. It is Super Inclusive, and we always had something to do, drink and eat. The temperature is always pleasant and the activities staff is the best I have ever seen at a resort. They have not been perating a year yet - they have some work to do in the quality and speed of their food and drink service, but everything else is outstanding!

Very good value for your money

from A TripAdvisor Member
I don't understand why people write a negative report about Superclubs Breezes. For the money you pay it is very good value for money, if you want a first class resort like Sandals you have to pay double or triple the price.

The buffet is good and the Japanese is excellent, you can eat as much sushi as you like, the italian is also worth going.

All kinds of sports are available to make it a fun filled vacation, so don't let the negative reports influence you.

Choose Aruba instead

from A TripAdvisor Member
The resort is not recommended in my opinion. We stayed 9/02 and it took 6 rooms to get one where everything worked. The food in the buffet is flat out awful. The management could not care less whether you are accomodated or not. The beach is full of coral and painful to walk on. The entertainment is also very bad, you'd get better on a NYC street corner. The rooms are sterile as far as the decorating, and beware that oceanview means you may get a glimpse of it, just next to the dumpster. The only bright spots are Tommy and his Japaneese restaurant and a nice pool. By the way, while we were there, they booked a convention and 300+ people swarmed the resort. They monopolized the staff, poll and restaurants. Stay away- go to Aruba instead, it's 50 times better.

Fun vacation

from CL910
Everyone had a super time. My family and I stayed at Breezes 8/13/02-8/21/02. Trip included 2 kids ages 13&10 and 2 adults. I had read multiple terrible reviews about Breezes Curacao and fortunately, we did not experience any unpleasantness. The weather was fabulous and you are almost guarenteed there will not be rain. Rooms were nice (not 6 star) but comfortable. Buffets were pretty good with a large selection. Kids found the resort to be unbelievable. They mastered the trapeze, wind sailing, and many other activities. This is definitely a family resort. This is not a LUXURY resort but for the price and the amount of fun the kids had, it was well worth it. The price was very good and we would like to return.

Curacao: a nice island

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have been to Curacao several times due to the close proximity, and during my last visit I stayed at the SuperClub Breezes. It is Curacao's first and only all-inclusive resort. I had a nice stay; the rooms are spacious and tidy, while the place has a nice beach, and the swimming pool is also very nice. The food was ok and the personnel really did their best to accomodate one's needs.

Although your website does not mention any major attractions for Curacao, except for the "cunucu", I would like to comment that the island does offer several attractions, like:

the Curacao Seaquarium, featuring a "Dolphin Encounter" and "Animal Encounter",

the Ostrich Farm, where you can also enjoy nice meals of these huge birds,

some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, like Barbara Beach, Curacao Seaquarium beach, and several of the beaches located at the West side of the island

Diving and snorkeling

Casinos

Shopping at good prices.

Trip from Hell!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I am limited in the space allowed to write this review and don't know what unpleasant aspect to state first. Breezes Curacao was by far the worst experience my daughters and I have ever endured!!!UGH! We were there from 7-18-02/7-22-02. For the 5 days, 4 nights that we spent on this wasteland we had no hot water in our room, no air conditioning, and were unable to eat the food because it was all deep-fried, and smothered in some "mystery seasoning." We never could identify what the spice was, but it overpowered all the food! Never before have we encountered such unpleasant, unfriendly, and down-right rude and apathetic staff & Locals. No one would give you the time of day or empathize with you when you tried to get some relief from the conditions. We twice reported our dilemma to managers and it fell on deaf ears. One manager, when we told him how hot our room was responded, " What do you want, it's a hot country." Forget swimming in the sea. Sardines lined the sea bottom. They had fallen from workers' nets and were left to die on the beach. Eventually they were swept into the sea to rot.

We have demanded a full refund from our travel agent. Breezes Curacao was completely misrepresented in the brochure and not even slightly lived up to its claim of "a Carribean Paradise." We have renamed it - Cura-Hell!!!
