... was an ambulance at the start of the climb, it seems someone had twisted there ankle and they were waiting for them, not as I first thought that they might be waiting for me.

The sign at the bottom said steep inclines, Grade HARD and vertical scrambling up a chain and 4.4 km to the summit, so off we strolled, well at least for the first 20 metres and then the steps started.

A short drive from Brisbane was the beach resort of Surfers Paradise. This was my first experience of Australia's beaches. As you can tell from the name, this is a popular spot for surfing, so the sea was a little rough for swimming, more a case of jumping the waves. The water
