... a minute to realize just how big the ship was. Nick steered the boat all around the perimeter of the sunken ship. The water was so clear that you could see the ship pretty easily. It was not weathered much because the cold climate up here does not support a lot of marine life, making preservation easy. The boat sunk because of a steam engine fire and has been sitting in the lake since September of 1901. That's over 100 years! I hope the crew on that ship had ...
... we could burn later. So much for a grocery store... It was more of a gas station convenience store with some produce at the front. But hey, they had what we came for. The Pub was recommended from multiple people for dinner, so that's where we went next. Turns out they don't start serving dinner until 5:30 though, so we sat around and waited for an hour since we got there around 4:30. I sipped a glass of wine and a Corona while we waited. We found a place to stay just out of town called Apostle RV Park. Nice RV Park but a little pricey. We decided to stay in the lower section of the park which was all green with grass and trees. We were the only ones there. Needless to say it was very ...
Upon arrival, and despite it being a family getaway weekend, I was welcomed into the fold. Four-wheeler tour of the surrounding area, beers, fishing off the dock, an excellent dinner (including hunting-stashed deer sausages), bonfire with s'mores, all with a gorgeous view of the lake. Perfect afternoon and evening. Of course, I stayed well past the time I had intended, but the best way I know ...
