13 months later we are faced with yet another megastorm. The wind and rain has began, and though we are far more prepared than last time, it is still too soon. Tensions are high. Luckily the storm may spare us the greatest destruction, but those facing the storm head on are still dealing with recovering from Typhoon Haiyan. We need thoughts and prayers. Typhoon Ruby may last until Sunday evening. I will update when I can. ...

... which got us half way there, and then the classic ask a random shopkeeper, and a pedestrian option which got us nearly all the way (I later found out that the Express Inn is just over 2kms from where we started). It does have a ocean walk that is being built and maybe someday worth more then just a ...

So we were up early and waiting outside the resort for a van or bus to pass which would take us back to Tacloban and then we could get a bus or van on to Catbalogan. Nothing came past. We waited for an hour before deciding to walk, with full packs once again, ...

    Catbalogan

A travel blog entry by frawldog on Nov 07, 2011

... hours to Tacloban, then another four hours to Borongan, but now we are only 4 hours from Borongan, so going to Tacloban really does us no good. We checked into a tourist hostel. It was 400 pesos. I paid them using 1000 pesos and they said they didn't have change. They went down the road while I waited and they couldn't get change. I asked again at 4 PM. They still didn't have change. As I went to dinner a little after 5, they showed me the same 1000 pesos and said it ...
