In the words of the proverbial blogger OMG! This place is stunning. Impressive from the minute you walk into the foyer. Views to blow your mind out over the ocean through windows from floor to ceiling. Then you get to your room, unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to get a see view , instead we have dense trees just off our balcony with the sea to our left. We still have floor to ceiling windows across a whole wall with a balcony. The room is Sooo great. With a two person free standing bath and a rainfall shower cubical the width of the room, all done out in the 'black rock' tiles and granite. There is an interlinking window to the lounge with a blind. Great to socialise whilst luxuriating in the bath. a living flame gas fire for those chilly sea side evenings and a large TV . Comfy soft furniture completes the room to a high modern standard. The bar serves high quality bar food such as grilled salmon BLT and steak sandwiches . Very high quality and not badly priced considering the environment you're eating in. The restaurant is yet to be tested but guests all appear to be impressed.

A very nice resort located on Marine Drive at Ucluelet where stayed for one night as part of our Tofino - Ucluelet trip.
The name is very apt because of the black volcanic rock that forms part of the rugged cove and coast line where the resort is located.
The room we stayed in was a king suite that had a balcony with great views and also a huge bathroom with a rain shower head that was very luxurious.
    The staff were very accommodating.
We did not have our evening meal at the resort but did have breakfast there the next morning. They had nice meals, reasonably priced, nice relaxed atmosphere, not rushed by staff and we were able to have an easy morning before we checked out.

We stayed in one of the cottages away from the main building. The view was great and the room was very large with a nice balcony. We enjoyed having the kitchen, which gave us a lot of flexibility. Housekeeping was great at coming a little later in the morning for us.

new venue , new adventure and what a great start ! The drive over was our first real travelling under our own steam , but the four hour run went smoothly and the scenery was pretty spectacular especially through the mountains. Every where is so densely forested you can see why Bears love it.

Ucluelet, otherwise known a 'Ukee' is a First Nations word that refers to people of the safe harbour. That certainly appeared true of the wildlife that we saw when we were at the harbour.
The town has a long history with the First Nations people and also with the subsequent settlers who came to this area and a established fur trading industry.< …

... and what could wait, put the loads on & went searching for coffee. It's so nice now that Ben's graduated from drinking ice breaks to real coffee - we can go "get coffee" together lol :) After the laundry was done we had lunch at the yummiest Thai restaurant. We haven't had Thai since we left Oz and it was soooo good. It was so nice to eat out for a change as well, how luxurious... We grabbed some groceries then hit the road and arrived at Elk Falls around 3pm. We picked ...

We then drove 10mintues to Chesterman beach which is where many of the surfers hand out! The beach is outside the national park so we didnt have to buy a pass. Its a great beach and words can not explain the beauty of the place, its truley amazing!

... nuts. Looked like a sea monster, huge and black. Super touristy reactions. So feeling full and having forgotten how cold and we it is outside, we departed for home. Had to move the tent for better access, hopefully tarped her up well for anti-wetness, and dug ourselves a moat. By the end an exhausting day. Asleep around midnight. Stoked for picking up KC tomorrow.
