In the words of the proverbial blogger OMG! This place is stunning. Impressive from the minute you walk into the foyer. Views to blow your mind out over the ocean through windows from floor to ceiling. Then you get to your room, unfortunately we weren't lucky enough to get a see view , instead we have dense trees just off our balcony with the sea to our left. We still have floor to ceiling windows across a whole wall with a balcony. The room is Sooo great. With a two person free standing bath and a rainfall shower cubical the width of the room, all done out in the 'black rock' tiles and granite. There is an interlinking window to the lounge with a blind. Great to socialise whilst luxuriating in the bath. a living flame gas fire for those chilly sea side evenings and a large TV . Comfy soft furniture completes the room to a high modern standard. The bar serves high quality bar food such as grilled salmon BLT and steak sandwiches . Very high quality and not badly priced considering the environment you're eating in. The restaurant is yet to be tested but guests all appear to be impressed.

A very nice resort located on Marine Drive at Ucluelet where stayed for one night as part of our Tofino - Ucluelet trip.
The name is very apt because of the black volcanic rock that forms part of the rugged cove and coast line where the resort is located.
The room we stayed in was a king suite that had a balcony with great views and also a huge bathroom with a rain shower head that was very luxurious.
    The staff were very accommodating.
We did not have our evening meal at the resort but did have breakfast there the next morning. They had nice meals, reasonably priced, nice relaxed atmosphere, not rushed by staff and we were able to have an easy morning before we checked out.

We stayed in one of the cottages away from the main building. The view was great and the room was very large with a nice balcony. We enjoyed having the kitchen, which gave us a lot of flexibility. Housekeeping was great at coming a little later in the morning for us.

new venue , new adventure and what a great start ! The drive over was our first real travelling under our own steam , but the four hour run went smoothly and the scenery was pretty spectacular especially through the mountains. Every where is so densely forested you can see why Bears love it.

Ucluelet, otherwise known a 'Ukee' is a First Nations word that refers to people of the safe harbour. That certainly appeared true of the wildlife that we saw when we were at the harbour.
The town has a long history with the First Nations people and also with the subsequent settlers who came to this area and a established fur trading industry.< …

Traffic is relatively light as most weekend visitors have already departed with their surfboards. As we drive along the rocks glisten in the sun, as water cascades down from the mountains, at times in rivulets and at others little waterfalls ...

It is all set up so you can watch all the cheese making through big glass windows,
They also do Wine.. but all a bit sweet and fancy for me...
We bought a load of cheese and 'artisan bread'... looked like Baguette to me..

... dipping my feet in though, so that's what I did. Freezing at first but you get used to it after a bit. I climbed on an outcropping and just sat there for a while, looking out at the sunset. Just beautiful. I'm so glad I'm here right now. Just feels so right.

Then back to my cabin. I debated going for a soak in my jacuzzi or lighting a fire in my fireplace but in the end I just opted to go to bed early. Boring I know. Oh well, still a great if uneventful day.
