The concrete sections continued beyond Nilwood including a spot where there are turkey tracks made while the concrete was still setting. In Carlinville I stopped at the town's square where it is paved in brick and has a number of 1880s buildings lining it. I ...

... we saw cute bears carved out of tree stumps!! Back on the road, we stopped for dinner at a roadside restaurant before making our way to our accommodation for the evening - a Route 66 Icon - The Wagon Wheel Hotel. This hotel was originally a cafe, gas station and hotel, but more recently has been renovated and now has just 18 rooms and a small gift shop.
