No good! No eat! No Pay!!
Our last full day here.....already!
I had thought that perhaps my throat would be better, because by bedtime last evening it had eased, but I seemed to spend an awful lot of the night coughing again....although Val didn't appear stressed, so maybe I'd not kept her awake! Unfortunately, it felt even worse this morning.
Because she had not …
Jungle, monkeys and massage
Day 3....and the sun is shining!
Unfortunately, I woke up with a bad throat....hopefully it's just the air conditioning and nothing more sinister.
Thought I'd take Val on a little adventure today....a trek though the jungle across to Ao Tonsai... since we went to Champney's at Henlow, she's been out walking every day, so I imagined her …
Fish, chicken and pineapple!
Day 2....and the sun is shining! Booked the one thing that Steven had left for us to do here..... our transfer to Koh Lanta on Sunday and as he had advised us to book with Joy Travel, we did.
We also booked a private longtail boat trip for this afternoon, with one of the boatmen who hang around outside the The Sunrise Resort, East Railay. Left …
And relax...
So today has been a nice day, we got up about midday and headed down to the pool for a bit of sun and swim, the pool is the one we can see from our room which was a massive infinite style pool with a raised platform pool and was a nice temperature. We stayed there until about 4 getting ourselves a nice tan and enjoying a good swin with both of us …

Excellent hotel and no noise from neighbouring building works.
Free wifi and free use of hotel provided laptops. Area let down by rubbish, but will no doubt be cleaned up when all the redevelopement is finished....
Yes, I recommend this hotel

Firstly, I have to say that most of the faults with our stay are not directly due to the hotel but rather it's situation. During our stay there was large scale construction on both sides of the hotel which, although not particularly disruptive, can still be heard during parts of the day. Secondly, the smell in the area is also an issue. Due to the hotel being situated on the mangrove side of the island the environment suffers from the smell of sewage, and waste as well as having severe litter problems in areas due tourism.
That being said, the hotel grounds are well kept, the staff are very friendly and helpful and I cannot find fault with the service provided during our stay. The restaurant is also a plus as the prices are pretty reasonable and offers a good selection of both local and western cuisines. Room service should be avoided is it's by no means quick and often has more than you really want.
The pool area is a little small but the bar is nice and has a good selection of drinks, although they can be a little hit and miss at times, and the bathroom/shower facility is definitely a bonus.
We also tried out the spa facilities and found them to be very good, the staff are very experienced but do struggle with english slightly and prices are a little on the expensive side compared to the plethora of local options available.
Overall we were fairly satisfied with our room, the maid service was good and only major fault we had was that the air conditioning didn't cool our room at all and wasn't fixed despite our inquiry and two staff members looking at it whilst we were kept in the dark.
Overall, we both enjoyed our stay at this hotel but would recommend you take it with a pinch of salt, at least until nearby construction work is finished.
