    Very Pleasantly surprised!

    Hey all

We stayed here over NYE and had a fantastic time. Upon check-in, we were given the wrong room, and were upgraded to the Executive suite after the first night because of it. All the rooms have a spectacular ocean view and the property is very well-kept. The standard room was quite basic and comfortable, but the Executive room was reminiscent of a Whistler chalet room, with very nice fixtures and a jacuzzi by the bedroom. Expedia have this listed as a 2-star; not sure why. This property has a restaurant, hot tub and gym onsite, and SHOULD be rated at least a 3-star. Either way, this is a fantastic value in Tofino.

    Look no further

We found this hotel to be truly more than we expected, given its low price of $116CAN (late October rates). The rooms were nicely appointed if rather standard Best Western rooms, but the view was spectacular! Every room looks out on a spacious, tastefully landscaped lawn, leading to a protected ocean beach. The glass-enclosed restaurant is set in the middle, with the same spectacular view. The staff was very helpful. If I were to return to Tofino, I'd look no further.

    Location is perfect

Wanted an away from the crowds holiday and stayed here for 2 nights a couple of years ago on our fly drive holiday. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Canada this was one of the best. Dont get me wrong, it is not luxurious as it is a typical Best Western Hotel.

The breakfast is good and we had one evening meal at the hotel which was fine. The other night we got a taxi into Tofino, only a mile away, and had a fantastic meal in a restaurant there unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the restaurant.

Tofino itself is a great place for tourists with shops and restaurants and also do NOT miss the whale watching, one of the best bits of the holiday.

Hope to go back in 2005.

    A Unique Place

We spent an extremely enjoyable 3 nights here. The location is unbeatable, with our balcony overlooking the beach (about 20 metres away). We were upgraded to one of the 'superior' rooms with a fireplace, large bed and small kitchen.

The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed but efficient, and Tofino itself is a gem of a place!

    Truly Awesome

I just want to say this place is fabulous. We have stayed at the resort several times and have been so taken by the beauty that we are having our wedding there. The staff, especially the planning dept. has been very helpful it was almost like having our own wedding planners. The resort is clean and comfortable and the restaurant is nice too. The beach is very breath taking and the price is great too. I highly recommend this resort.

    Great Place!

This is a nice hotel with a great, beachfront location. Of course, it helps that is in one of the nicest locales around - Tofino (and the entire Pacific Rim) is a truly amazing part of the world. Be sure to go whale watching and visit the Pacific Rim National Park!

    Wonderful Place

What a wonderful place the Tin Wis is. The staff was courteous and helpful and well versed on the area. We were never at a loss for ideas on what to do. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Definitely a place I would go back to.

Simply said "We loved our stay". After spending 3 nights at the Tin Wis Resort we found our accomodations to be above average in regards to location, services and friendly staff. It was a relaxing get away that we look forward to repeating in the future.

    B.W. Tin Wis is perfect

We use the Tin Wis on many group tours (both series and ad hoc). We have never recieved a complaint regarding the property. In fact, it is regarded as among of the best hotels/locations on the tour. For breakfast, request the "tin wiz" meal. It's fill you up but not kill your wallet.

Tin Wis leaves a lot to be desired...

We stayed at the Tin Wis Lodge just last week, but checked out after the first night. They were courteous enough to only charge a $50 day rate for the second night's cancellation, as they knew rebooking for a Saturday night would not be difficult. Hotel rooms are spacious, but as Fodor's review states, "pedestrian" as compared to other lodges. This was truly the feel of a motel rather than a lodge. Plastic patio furniture rather than the beautiful cedar used elsewhere in Tofino, and no where comfortable to sit and relax in the evenings other than right by the front desk (in ear range of all conversations on the pay phone as well) or upstairs next to a soda machine. So much atmosphere was missing that we found a much better place more in line with the beauty of Tofino for the next two nights.Tin Wis does have a beautiful ocean view location with large grounds begging for flowers and landscaping, needing a few benches to relax and reflect. The beach is magnificent, for walking, tidal pool searching, sea kayacking and the nightly beach fires lended such atmosphere to the location. The fireplace rooms are no doubt wonderful, but the standard accommodation leaves a lot to be desired in a location like Tofino---such a special place, it's a shame to spend it in a hotel that feels like hundreds of ordinary rooms in boring places. We would not recommend this property if anything else was available.

    Vandaag de grote dag.

We hired a car and drove north out of Victoria, past the port of Nanaimo. The countryside was quite flat with low hills and cliffs, one of which, Malahat Point, had a great look out over the Georgia Strait. A quick coffee and cake lunch in which I indulged in two new passions. There is a 'Nanaimo bar' which is 1cm base of flapjack type biscuit, 1 …

... close to the entrance of the track back to the car park, I can see 2 birds flying across the far side of the bay, I take a closer look with my binoculars. There is 1 raven and it looks to be attacking another bird, I finally get it in my view and it's a big bird with a white head and white tail feathers, a Bald Eagle, cool. I watch for a bit and the Bald Eagle flys to a tree and lands near the top, I really want to go get a closer look but it's too far ...

Kina and Mackenzie hit the body boards off South Chesterman everyday (mostly at sunset for 3 hours each day) Rieko joined them most days too.

... British Columbia has a population of about 6,500,000 people – more than NZ and is a huge province. About twice as big as Texas, is larger than most of Europe combined and it is a lovely city from what we can see. The city was originally associated with the mighty gold rushes of the north in the 1860's and because of its mild climate now reigns as a popular tourist and retirement community.

It is still raining moderately heavy and we are walking around the city and ...
