Welcome to Miami!
22/03 - Miami, our last stop in the USA. We are only staying 2 blocks away from South Beach so it´s good, everything is really close. We went for a walk & found a nice Mexican restaurant for dinner & after that just strolled along Ocean Drive checking out the scenery. It´s pretty lively. 23/03 - We pretty much just lazed at the beach & …
Welcome to Miami!
Doppelte …
Nun denn, dann muss ein Schlechtwetterprogramm her: Shopping!
Die größte Mall Floridas steht ein paar Meilen nördlich von Miami in Fort Lauderdale - die Sawgrass Mills. Statt den schnellsten Weg …
SOBE, South Beach
We had no choice but to get up about 7:30 this morning as the PA started announcing that those who wanted to walk their luggage off the boat could not go ashore. We got dressed and went for our last breakfast on board. Then we went and finished packing. When we finished they announced that deboarding was on hold because the terminal was too crowded. We waited until after 9:00 and then we went to deck 7 and got in line. It wasn't long until we were ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Wyndham Garden Hotel Miami South Beach Miami Beach
Hotel of Horror on South Beach
This Hotel has to be my worst experience ever. Walked in to the lobby not great but looked clean. My wife went to register while I parked the car. When I returned she was standing outside and informed me we where staying in another building. This is where the nightmare begins. We stayed in last building next to a parking lot that was a home to some of the South Beaches locals. They used the tree next to the building as a restroom and the furniture from out front as a living and sleeping area. The room was old and carpet was disgusting. TV had a total of 5 channels oh lets not forget the windows that were broken so that you can enjoy the residents who live in the parking lot as well as the traffic from Washington street. Pool dirt beer bottles every where on any given morning. One morning at the free buffet which was not bad I noticed my friend from the parking lot sitting at the table and going thru some of the free pastries with his hands. Total staff was useless really cant figure out whos running this hotel. Complained to the manager a women who was very rude and arrogant when I checked out on Nov 18 about most of the above she just rolled her eyes and said nothing. I would recommend sleeping in your car as a first choice before this Hotel of horrors.
You get what you pay for
I've stayed at the Best Western several times, but I have to say, my April 2003 visit will be my last. It has always been kind of funky, but since Best Western took it over a year or two ago, it's lost whatever charm it had. Now, its just a Motel 6 kind of place albeit once with a great location. And that is the reason, if there is one, to stay there.
Perfect location. Two blocks from the beach, restaurants and clubs.
Pool is a plus too, thought we had to ask management to turn on/up the heat to make swimming tolerable. Still, if you're on a budget, and don't mind the mediocre service and amenities, it's the place for you.
Great Place to Stay
We were at the South Beach Best Western in March 2003 and were very happy with the art deco hotel. They had a nice continental breakfast, pool and friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again.
Don't Do it!! Don't do it!!!!
It all started with no early check-in and being faced with leaving our bags in the lobby, guared by the desk clerk who stepped away every 2 minutes. The hotel looked as if it were raided by gunfire and the hotel windows had bars on them. Wonder why. The only place desireable enough to sit was the lobby. What a dump this place was. Yes, it's central to everything else but who wants to sleep in hell. Pick a corner on the street instead. It's free!
An honest opinion
Hotel was clean and refurbished and internet price of 75 dollars was about right. We were in the Taft building. Staff on reception we found to be rude, indifferent and hard to find if it was not for constant hilarity coming from a back office. A bell was eventually put on the front desk. TV consisted of CNN News which was barely visible and that was about it. Also don't starve yourself for breakfast as the little put out is gone by 8.30 and reception don't take kindly to having that pointed out. There was no decaff, any juice or Danish for two days. location however is good, very central.
Great location at a great price.
The Best Western South Beach is not the Waldorf Astoria, but for that kind of price, it really is the best you can get for such a prime location. It is only 2 blocks from all the action at the Beach and Ocean Drive. The first thing that strikes you when you get to the hotel is that the pool is really RIGHT BESIDE the sidewalk. Go figure. The hotel lobby looks kind of shabby, small and in need of a new coat of paint and the staff were not the most professional or pleasant people in the world. Our room overlooking the pool, however, more than made up for all that. For the price, it is clean, spacious (for 2 people) and well appointed with TV, Queen bed, air-conditioning, plus iron & ironing board. Our room was on the second floor right beside the stairs, so it was a little noisy because of all the human traffic. The pool area can get rather noisy at night with loud music blaring from the pool bar. But that is nothing compared to the hotels along Ocean Drive, the (really LOUD) music/traffic/Harleys there goes on for almost the entire night. The (nothing to shout about) daily breakfast is served at a small space right across from the lobby. It is within walking distance to the Art Deco Visitors' Centre, the Versace Mansion and right opposite the Police Station. The 2 blocks to the beach can get rather iffy at night in terms of safety, so use your common sense if you're walking back to the hotel late.It is a great value overall, if nothing else than for the excellent location - not too far from where the action is, but far enough so you can get a good night's sleep.
What a dump
We arrive early and can't check in till 3, not big deal however we ask them to store our luggage. The luggage is stored in the lobby where anyone can go and take it. The staff was extremely rude. We asked for towels about 6 times before we actually received them among other things. The room, horrible, we were outside in a motel style room and there was a space under the door that any animal could fit though. The window in the bathroom did not close causing it to be loud and cold in the room. I don't think that the carpet in the room has ever been cleaned. In order to get to the room you had to walk up about 20 stairs with your luggage..I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Great place. Great deal.
Only 2 blocks from the Ocean at reasonable rates. Right in the heart of the action. The owners did a great job refurbishing the hotel. We'll be back!
Best western a best buy!
We just returned from a 4-night stay in South Beach, where we stayed at the Best Western South Beach, 10th and Washington.
I got a $65/night rate online (BW website) and the room was good - king size bed, fridge (you have to request this), no view but a good deal for the price. The location can't be beat. My husband and I have been to south beach about a half dozen times and stayed at different places. This place was the best bargain spot we've stayed (the others were disgusting).
They also have a pool, which is a treat.
The downside is no parking provided, but there's a municipal lot very close to the hotel that worked ok for us ($8 night on weekends, $6 during the week, but no in-and-out).
I'd recommend this hotel for anyone who's pretty particular about where they stay (like me) but on a budget.
Best Western
The Best Western chain has bought this property on Washington. It is quite a mess at the moment with the front areas all roped off and the entry door kind of hard to see from the road. Once we found how to get in (after finding a place to park), we found the lobby to be very nice and very art deco-like. The parking facility the front desk recommended was a street away in a public parking garage. It was a bit difficult to plan what we had to get out of the car that we really needed so that we did not have to carry everything over. The room was nice and small, but comfortable. The decoration of the rooms is quite nice. The area the hotel is in is a little scary at night and we were glad that the hotel had a security guard and a police station across the street. The side roads to walk to Ocean Blvd. can be a bit scary. I would recommend it for anyone who is there for the South Beach scene and knows what to expect. I would not want to stay in South Beach with my children, that is for sure. If I did, I would spend the extra money to stay on Ocean Blvd so that we did not have to walk the side streets in the evening. The Best Western is doing a great job fixing this old place up. It is economical and the hotel has a nice feel to it.
