Great Place to stay!
Great place to stay. Room was large and nice. I would consider it a great place for a family for it has a kitchen in it and is on beach.
Request to be 3rd floor or higher for view. Construction of new place next door was a bit noisy in am. Construction office is downstairs converted room. Requested a late check out of one extra hour and was denied! ??? Good experience overall. Try the Greek restaurant down the street north one mile. Great food!
We had our second visit to The Best Western Pelican Beach resort. Our first visit was about 5 years ago when the resort had several different buildings. At first, I was sorry to hear that this was no longer the case, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a family oriented resort, I would strongly recommend the Pelican Beach resort.
Im sure couples would feel the same. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I do look forward to visiting again once the new building is completed.
LOVE The Pelican!
My husband and first stayed at the Pelican 11 years ago while still in college and have gone every year, sometimes 2 and 3 times ever since.
The staff has stayed the same friendly bunch from our first trip, which is saying something about the resort. Renovations will only make the place better than it already is! We consider it our home away from home.
Not as advertised in internet!! -
I called to reserve one of the effiencies that they advertise on the internet. They told me that they no longer have any kitchens or kitchenettes. thought you should know.
Loved this resort!!!!
We have been staying at this resort for over 4 years now. The kids love it. DIrectly on the beach. Wonderful staff. We even know them by name.
Real family atmosphere. Very relaxing vacation. Beautiful. Cant wait to go back. Nice to sit on the balcony, overlook the ocean and watch nature at its finest. A+ in my book. Outstanding vacation.DIna Shelly/Tom Kendorski
Great family place
Found this place after checking out of another property down the road that was awful. The staff was so helpful, and made sure that our stay was comfortable and clean. The suite was great, 2 seperate rooms, an eating area and kitchenette. We had a king bed, a queen size murphy bed and a single pullout sleeper. Plenty of room for us and the 3 kids!
Plus a balconony overlooking the ocean. My husband travels on business to this area a few times a year, and we plan to make this our regular stop! Can't wait for the new 11 story building they are working on to be finished!
I stayed at the Pelican Beach Resort when I was in Ft. Lauderdale to look at a school for my son. We both loved it. It is right on the beach, the view is wonderful, the rooms were clean and large, and all of the people associated with the hotel are great! We have already booked our rooms for our trip back in several weeks.
We took our five grown children, spouses, and grandchildren there and we all loved it - and went again two years later. The grandchildren still talk about having breakfast on the deck, swimming in the pool, and walking on the beach. We will return again next year - it's our together time - wonderful memories - comfortable accomodations - and the beach feels like it's our own.
Pre or Post Cruise Place to Stay
Great pre or post cruise stay on the beach. Staff are very friendly and a good value compared to the pricier hotels close to the Port Everglades. Have stayed there many times and will again.
On the Beach
On our first trip to Ft. Lauderdale, my husband and I had no idea of where to stay. I found this hotel in a guide book. It was the only one I found that was on the beach. The rooms were nothing special, but the beach was nice and it had a great heated pool. I would stay there again.

... at a place called Asia Bay next to one of the canals. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a bottle of the house sake (the only one they serve warm) and three pieces of unagi. The latter came as sushi, with the eel wrapped with a band of nori. Delicious.
Stopped at the American Social Club on the way back to the hotel and had a Breckenridge vanilla porter. It was only $4 so I guess it’s still happy hour. Like the Royal Pig, this place has TV screens ...
... due to confusing markers and buoys and protected areas. More importantly, there were very few marinas until Biscayne Bay that could accommodate a boat with our draft. Given the dearth and quality of marinas, we opted to go all the way to our next destination, just south of Miami. We knew it was going to be a long day if we went all the way to Biscayne Bay but we thought it would be worth it. Folks told us we would make faster time on the Hawk Channel where the waters were deep and ...
... ran over a small dog. Roland missed it by a few inches.. Literally. I almost cried. There are so many wild dogs here, and they are even cuter than the ones in Belize. Speaking of almost running things over... We saw a dead monkey in the road :( Then we FINALLY made it to Manuel Antonio! Unfortunately it started raining and the sun had started to set by the time we got here. But Our bungalow is beautiful! Cant wait to explore and see more things ...
... And the other reason is that one of our cruzing buddies uses Rodeway and thinks it's a good deal. Free breakfast, too. So here we are at Rodeway. The lobby looks like a combination of 7-11 and a liquor store with plastic covered sofas. Laundry detergent and condoms are sold behind the registration desk. We purchased neither. There is a restaurant/bar. Service was slow, the crowd was loud but we had excellent rib eye steaks! Our room is ...
... at that gate." I kindly respond with a thank you, all the while thinking "duh?!? Didn't I just demonstrate the wherewithal to do that at this gate?!?" Finally I settled at F5 to enjoy my honey-seared chicken. I turned my focus to wondering what everyone was there for... One guy looked like a Russian spy. Another guy - older, very tall, and handsome looked like his American counterpart. And there were several younger guys investigating the Best Buy ...
