... was premier night so there was a red carpet and paparazzi but it was all australian stars so we didnt know anyone! we did a booze cruise too which was fun. it was a lovely evening and really nice to sail around the harbour. we got involved in one of the games too and we came second! dean was down to his boxers but shira hadnt taken off any clothes like the girl in the other team so they won!! on our last day before our flight up to the gold coast we took a trip to the blue mountains ...

... that the markets were on because there was a cruise ship in the harbour. Most of the stalls were the same ones that had been at Bowen a few days prior but there were a couple of new ones and we bought another present. Lucy in particular was very excited to see the camel rides on offer and even asked to go on one. The great East Coast odyssey has begun! Rented a campervan in Cairns, which is due to be dropped off in Sydney (2500kms) in 28 days time. Juliet's arrived in Cairns, and we hit the road on Sunday afterrnoon. The van's great, got a really good price, and it comes with bedding, camping chairs, gas stove and all camping bits and bobs. But, it's not all sunshine and good fortune... Loads of the campers here have loud paintjobs, which I wanted to avoid. The place in Cairns ...

Probably one of the most beautiful places I've been.... another bit of paradise.... pure white sands (I can't remember what type of sand it's called but it's so special that they used a few tonnes of it to make the hubble space station or something!!).... beautiful blue and turquoise waters... amazing.... we had a beer on the beach... and basked in its glorious-ness for a few hours....

Back on the boat for lunch, then off to another part of the islands ...

3. I lost my sunglasses and prescription sunglasses (100 quid!) so had to trapse round the whole place looking for them to no avail :(

We sailed to Whitehaven Beach, the most perfect white sandy beach you can ever imagine and went on to Lungeon Bay in front of Hook Island to anchor for the night.
