Jackson Hole

We spent the night at a Best Western - The Lodge at Jackson Hole - a clean, comfortable, reasonbly priced option. It's about a 15 minute drive from the airport and about 1 mile outside of the Jackson town center. Thursday - Thanks to the time difference, we were up bright and early. Ate a quick breakfast and headed out to Route 89 that goes through GTNP to YNP. It was raining at the time, so we stopped at the GTNP Visitors Center where we saw that the South Entrance to YNP was listed as close...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Best Western Lodge At Jackson Hole

"The Lodge" Gimme a break!

from sloopiek
Spent two nights at the Lodge at Jackson Hole, a pretentious sounding name for a Best Western. That should have tipped me to the prevailing attitudes of some of the staff I encountered who were working during the 48 hours we were in Jackson.

We booked this room many months ago via Travelocity; I had looked into booking a room via Hotwire and Priceline but no bargains are to be had in this neck of the woods in the month of August. Ended up paying about $200/night plus tax for a "suite", which included a nicely sized jacuzzi tub and a mini-kitchenette (refrigerator, sink, microwave). The room itself and the other facilities (pool, sauna, jacuzzi, breakfast lounge) at this hotel were pretty nice, but I've stayed in nicer places for half the price in other resort/destination towns where Priceline or Hotwire have had listings.

Anyways, the only glaring problem with this facility was with the hired hands. The air of haughtiness at the front desk on check in was rather pronounced; I don't believe the girl processing my check in actually made eye contact with me during the process, and when I asked a question about local directions she stated that she couldn't help me. No one else was waiting to check in, but the feeling was one of being rushed through.

During our stay we called housekeeping for extra towels and they never arrived; I made a trip down to the pool area where towels are made available and grabbed a few of those myself.

Another trip to the pool area later on to visit the sauna, but I couldn't find the sauna...I asked the bellman (who happened to be there) where the sauna was located, and he had a disdainful look as he pointed to a door that was just about directly behind me. Never said a word. He obviously didn't want to be spending any part of his summer answering dumb questions at the Lodge at Jackson Hole.

In the breakfast lounge area there is a nice continental breakfast daily; this is really a nice little set up. Our first morning I made an advance run to get ourselves a first cup of coffee, but the urn was empty. The food attendant saw me working the spigot and receiving only a dribble of coffee, then turned and walked away. I waited a few minutes, thinking he was going to get more coffee. He didn't return. I finally got another persons attention and in a few minutes the coffee was refilled.

The day of departure I had planned on getting out of town very early, and left a wake up call for 6 a.m. Although there was an alarm clock in the room, I didn't set it because I wake up to those things all year long, and a courtesy call from the desk is one of the services I do occasionally use when travelling.

My wife was the first to wake up at 6:45; as we rushed out the front door or the hotel she mentioned to the (same) girl at the desk that our wake up call had never arrived, and received a blank look and a shrug in return. No apology.

Jackson is a money town, but come on. This ain't the Ritz, it's a Best Western. It costs a small fortune to stay in this nice "lodge", maybe better customer relation skills could be included in the package.

It was okay...

The room was very pleasant...large and bright, and we had a decent view of the mountains. Everything was clean and well kept.

The best word we could come up with to describe the service was "perfunctory"... no one went out of their way to be cheerful or pleasant.

The food was plentiful but uninspired...scrambled eggs every single day...would have liked to see some pancakes or french toast. We tried the dinner buffet one night, and it was fine, just nothing spectacular.

Interesting to note that some folks said the pool was warm... the water was frigid when we were there. The spas were alternatively over- or under-heated. My children love to swim, and they were somewhat disappointed in the pool due to the temperature. And forget trying to get pool towels. We just used our room towels after the first try.

I would definitely try somewhere else the next time.

A good place to stay

We just returned from a week in Jackson Hole. We stayed at the B.W. Lodge on our last night after experiencing some problems at other hotels. This hotel is nice looking on the outside, its close to everything, and the rooms were large and comfortable. There are some bad places in Jackson Hole...at least this Best Western is available. (Do not confuse the Best Western Lodge with the Best Western Inn in Teton Village....the Inn is terrible). I got the best rate using Hotels for this hotel. ($25 cheaper than calling the hotel directly just hours before needing a room for the night). The pool was cold but large and they have two hot tubs. A continental breakfast is included. I would pick this place again.

Great place to base

We enjoyed this clean spacious hotel very much. The indoor/outdoor pool was very warm and large. Nearby hot tub was welcome at the end of the day. Room was clean with coffee maker, microwave, frig; beds very comfortable. They had a laundry room but 3 of the 4 washers were out of service at the time.

Right on free bus shuttle line to downtown, with several restaurants w/i a few blocks' walking distance. Very nice service people which I did not expect from a Best Western. Breakfast was just ok - scrambled egg buffet, toast, cereal, etc. I would return to the Lodge.

Pleasant Stay

from spnslc
This was our second summertime trip to this lodge. The rooms are large, clean, and well-decorated. The bathrooms are large with marble-stone floors. The pools were wonderfully warm and uncrowded during both of our trips. The only negative is that this lodge is located in an industrial/business park. Both of our stays included views of the back doors of a strip mall. But if you don't spend a lot of time at your hotel window, it doesn't matter, because the facility is so pleasant.

Great Place

Stayed here for a few days last summer on our trip out west. Was the best place we stayed. Clean, beautiful room, great breakfast, and a helpful staff. Would highly recommend and will stay there again on another trip.

Awesome!

WONDERFUL place to stay!!! Had a king room with jacuzzi tub, working fireplace, and comfy bed. Close to downtown and skiing. The hotel was clean with a great atmosphere and desk staff.

Absolutely the Best

I 100% recommend this hotel - it has TONS of extras!!! It is very clean and is beautifully furnished. The rooms are roomy and have 1/2 kitchens: small refridgerators and a microwave, as well as cups, utensils, etc. The "suites" are a king bed with a full sofa bed with down comforters. The best part, every room comes with a fireplace and the king rooms come with large, whirlpool tubs. A full HOT breakfast, open until 10am. The swimming pool is large and is indoor/outdoor, even in winter. Also has 2 hottubs, indoor and outdoor. Is 20-30 minutes of most major skiing resorts, and minutes from downtown, with restaurants within walking distance. Would be good for business, couples or families. It is somewhat more expensive than moderate hotels, but much less expensive than the local resorts. This is a great value for the price.

We stayed there September 2002. This is a beautiful hotel! It is a little more expensive but the accomadations are great, the hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are a dream (private jacuzzi). Service and staff were good and everything was very clean. We really recommend this hotel!
