We will post trip information here as soon as it starts. For 2010, we will continue planning the project and look for Sponsors that are willing to invest and support the Project. All indications in that regard is ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica pamericasSmall village on the main road but Tucan Hotel set back. Not cheap and only 2 showers/toilets shared between up to 4 people in treehouse, 4 in hammocks, multiple others camping plus 12 people in dorms when fully occupied. Female shower/toilet always full of men as bigger - thankfully came when quiet.
Cocked up the directions to the falls, Cascadas Verde & didn't turn left before hardware store. Ended up crossing the river ...
... the Moutain of Death.
The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldn´t go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...
Just a quick blog to keep you up to date
Had to change plans as there was no space at Sirena Ranger Station. Margarita was able to organise alternative route into Corcovado
Got Marvi bus to Sierpe. Stayed in good cabinas and had excellent meal in their restaurant
... to the hotel and went our separate ways. Many people got in the pool or went to the beach. The sand was amazingly soft and the waves were huge. They were taller than I am! Other people went shopping in the street vendors in Jaco or got a massage. The shops were very well stocked with clothes, jewelry, and all sorts of trinkets. It was fun just to look at everything that was being ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sjecostarica... diningroom that overlooks the surf for breakfast - I chose to have the american breakfast. In this country beans are served with every meal. It's a staple that I've had a hard time adopting. Over the second cup of amazing coffee (yeah - it's that good EVERYWHERE here in CR) I was watching the first surfers hitting the beach. Just beyond the breakers - about 75 feet from shore I could see the sleek blue fish jumping out of the ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica izzie_tYou know how I'm always going on about how much I love planes, and flying and being locked in a tin tube at 37,000 feet squeezed next to the 'being very smelly fat and annoying' regional NSW champion (2nd division) 'n' stuff? Well, this trip was no different, or actually completely different in that it was really quite okay. In fact the flight from Sydney to LA was almost ...wait for it....fun (gasp!). Look, the plane was almost empty I had three ...
Playa Jaco, Costa Rica edwardsj... the product! I'm not a coffee drinker, but this is top-quality, all-natural, Costa Rican coffee. I'll learn to like it, or give it to Brian. After the farm, we drove for a few more hours to Carara National Park, where we met my teacher for Environmental Impact, Isa, and some of her tourism students from the University of Costa Rica. I had a blast! We had an introductory activity, went to lunch with them (yes, it was casados), and then returned to the park for a nature ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica mstark2167... San Isidro De El General. We lodged in the Hotel Iguazú (20 dollars). We went for a walk and I (Claudio) took advantage of the time and got a hair cut. Please look at the pictures! (Besides, someone already told me that I should shave, and that was not Cecilia). The hairdresser told us of an Argentinean grill just around the corner, so we went to have dinner. Franco, the Owner prepared us a good asado with salad and good Argentine wine (24 dollars). We stayed for a while chatting with ...
Costa Rica, Costa Rica viajando... living and sleeping in houses that are so open that the wood stoves don't even need smoke stacks! The gaps are that large that the smoke just drifts out where the roof and walls meet. There are no windows, just openings in the walls with wooden slats so no one can climb through. Not even a wooden shutter; but still, no bites. Speaking of, I focus on how healthy everyone looks. I see no obese people or anyone I would consider fat, nor have I even smelled let ...
