Historical Traveler Reviews of Best Western Capitol Reef Reso Torrey
Great time at Capitol Reef!
from BML
This was our second visit to this area - 2 years ago we stayed at the Days Inn in Torrey, but after seeing the location of this Best Western we knew we had to stay here - what an amazing view from the balcony! It is hard to believe your eyes! The room was clean and I would actually recommend the restaurant at this hotel. Salads were made with mixed greens, not iceburg, sandwiches were made on thick homemade bread, etc. Very tasty. Definitely a VERY GOOD value when visiting Capitol Reef.
You will not believe the view!

This is hands down the best view! Be sure to get a room in the back building facing the view - incredible! This was an amazing value. And the food was so good! Everything was homemade - including the bread on the sandwiches. The mashed potatoes were real, not instant. Nothing fancy on the menu, but everything was freshly prepared. We were extremely satisfied with this stay. What a great surprise to find free internet access in the lobby - just sit down at their laptop. They had a pool and a tennis court as well! This is the best stay in the area.
Very pleased with our stay!

We were very pleased with our stay. I won't tolerate uncleanliness and our room was spotless. Perfect view from private balcony was awesome for watching the sunrise over the National Park. We enjoyed dinners and breakfasts very much but were not there to eat; the National Park was our objective so food was just a means to an end! :) Laundry room was also very clean and convenient, and a welcome sight on our long trip. Would definitely stay here again, and hope to soon!
A resort?

Room was quite nice, with ample space and a balcony with a view to die for. Staff was friendly but what killed this place was that the breakfast closed early without any word or apology, and we were awakened by loud hammering and drilling noises at 7am taken place by a remodeling crew one floor below us. No apology or acknowlegment about it of any kind. In-house restaurant serves edible food albeit pricey. I was surprised this is called a 'resort' because it most definitely does not earn that title.
Not a very good hotel

We stayed for two nights in this hotel during our vacation in Utah. I already knew I had to ask for a room on the upper floor. The woman at check in indeed was not really interested in us.
When we got to our room we found the bathroom not properly cleaned. On the floor was hair, a hairpin etc.
The carpet wasn't properly vacumed besides the beds. The internet was only available through a very small laptop and the connection was very slow. The restaurant also was not clean. Dust on the windowsills and on top of the benches. Food was ok, nothing special. The waitress was very kind.
The swimmingpool and hottub outside were very nice.
In my humble opinion, this hotel was not that good.
On the other hand it was not very expensive.
Great Spot

We stayed at this hotel in June despite some dubious reviews on this site, mainly because it was in such a great spot.
While the staff weren't as friendly as others we had met around Utah, they were stil very pleasant. The room was quite spacious and the views fantastic.
We had a standard room on the upper level and it was fine. It may have been a bit noisy on the ground floor.
We ate in the restaurant one night and found it to be adequate and good value.
Most unpleasant stay

My wife and I were touring national parks of SouthWest USA by car. We stayed at many excellent hotels based on the views of other travellers given on Tripadvisor. This hotel was our one really bad experience and was unfortunately again based on other reviews. I notice now that the first very good review is based on staying in the SUITES which is a completely different part of the hotel complex.
Things began badly at check in when not very interested staff accompanied by a very large dog allocated what they said was a quiet room on a lower floor. First mistake - do NOT accept a lower floor, they are noisy. You hear the people above walking around and very noisy plumbing. We were told the internet on which we were depending for links with the UK was not working.
Next morning we requested a quieter room on a higher floor and found the manager "Trey Brasil" (I believe) at reception. He rudely informed us that he had never had complaints and did not care if we moved on elsewhere. This put us in a difficult position as we had paid for two days and organised activities that day. Luckily another staff member allocated us another room which turned out to be quiet. The manager said internet was now working. I tried it and found it was still not working properly.
That evening we found the lid of the coffee jug (needed before one could make coffee) was missing. We asked reception for one and she said it would be there shortly. It did not appear. Next morning we asked why the lid had not materialised and we were told she couldn't find one but hadn't bothered to tell us. We tried the internet again but it was still not working properly.
Great base for visiting Capitol Reef NP
from kpatri
We found this place excellent value with a family of 4 staying in one of the garden suites, which are in a separate building with a large garden for the use of those staying in the dozen or so rooms in the block. The views are fabulous in all directions and it's really easy to get to Capitol Reef - indeed the National Park could almost begin as soon as you drive east the landscape is so spectacular. The pool and hot tub are both really large and enjoy the magnificent views. Eating there was not very exciting but we had an excellent evening meal over the road at the Red Rim (?) just across the road, where the dining room takes full advantage of the 360 degree views available. The extraordinary bookstore, Robber's Roost, does marvellous coffee, as well as being an inspirational sort of place. (It's at the other end of Torrey). We were really pleased to have spent 2 days here and would have gladly stayed longer.
Good Hotel

Rooms were OK. Resturant was good. Close to NP.
Pleasant stay at Torry

I think this is a fairly new establishment. The room was of above average motel grade, with a nicely fitted bathroom. We had a lower floor room with a small patio with chairs, overlooking the red cliffs.
The ideal rooms to get are the ones on the top floor with small balconies. The restaurant is adequate but without much character.
