We had to backtrack a little to go back to the Navajo National Monument. Really looking forward to this. We pull in there, some weathered old lady charged us $5 each to drive 500 yards to a......to a.........to a........FREAKIN' IDIOTIC, CRASLY COMMERCIAL TRAP TO SELL NAVAJO JUNK. OMG. It's actually the geographical location of the four states that meet at this point, so we ...

I really don't know what got us turned on to Aravaipa. Well, we knew that we were heading to Phoenix over spring break to see Radiohead and decided to make a spring break trip out of it. So looking at some book about southern AZ I found this awesome little canyon between Tucson and Phoenix. It was perfect. The photos can tell the rest. I'm tired and I really want to get some of these photos put up. But yep - We'll be back to Aravaipa ...

This was a spur of the moment deal. The carpet cleaners were here at the house and we needed to go someplace while the place dried.

Where to go? Someplace close and interesting---someplace we hadn't seen yet...

Always a sucker for scenic roads, we took off east to Globe. While not what you'd call picturesque itself, the road there goes through the beautiful Queen Creek canyon.

Bob says it's 80 miles of driving for 2 miles of scenery ...

I had ordered a pair of mocasin an some camp dresses to be made by my cousin from Sac Carlos. He called and said they are ready to be picked up so we will be waking up early and heading out before sun set.

I left Phoenix before Sunrise and headed East toward Globe. ...

Our first day of travel went so smoothly. The route we took was Hwy. 126 to I-5 to I-210 to I-15 to I-10 (which heads straight into TX). I drove the first portion of the trip through LA traffic until about Indio and then Mike the pro took over. All the driving the first day went by in a blur. We occupied our time by playing 20 questions, talking and listening to all the mp3 cd's I made. We saw the sunset in Phoenix, AZ ...
