      ... was a little cloudy, but it was beautiful nonetheless. The sky shimmered as the sun rose and the beach started coming alive with people, dogs and fishermen. By the time I was ready to leave the 3 students were calling me Uncle Bob. Very sweet.

      The long wide stretch of sand is often full of sunbathers and although most of the serious surfers have moved on to newer pastures, there are still plenty of surf dudes around at most times of the year, and especially so during peak season. Throughout the night we had remarked how this was exactly what we had hoped to experience, a truly authentic cultural encounter, not put on for the tourists.
