... when I have retired in 60 years). At chumpon pier we had a 5.5 hour wait for the next ferry. This was the first time we had a seen the sea in thailand and it did not disappoint with blue skies and lovely view out to sea and other islands. The wait also did not seem very taxing as there was a cafe with a nice seating area where we met a nice South African family travelling with their daughter who lives and works as a scuba instructor on ko Tao. We get a little ocean view bungalow and head out to soak in our surroundings. Unfortunately we soaked in a little too much and got horribly sunburnt! ... Tao is famous for diving and is the biggest backpacking place I've seen since Bangkok. After arriving in the morning I spent the afternoon in sweltering heat hiking to a view point. It was crazily steep and it turn out my trainers have no grip on loose dirt at all! It made it really good fun though extremely difficult (and scary coming back down!). Mum - you wouf have loved it! Especially with an amazing view at the end. The next day was my birthday! I had ...

... up as her boat wasn't leaving until 2pm and we chatted with various dive people at the shop and I left at about 1.30pm for the dive. The sea had been flat calm before today but now the open water was full of white horses and big rollers, fortunately I don't get seasick but the same could not be said for everyone on the boat... We moved locations a couple of times to find a ...
