Andrea and I piddled and diddled around the hotel until it was time to take her to the airport. My last goodbye...I am on my own now. Just last night I decided on a plan. I drove to Pensacola Beach Florida to spend a couple of relaxing days on the beach. I wanted to catch up on my blog, reflect about my trip and rejuvenate myself for the long drive …

Spending four nights in bug ridden swampy state parks, both Rob and I found ourselves feeling ready for a bit of civilisation. I was a bit disappointed in myself for not lasting longing without needing the internet, or bug free time (George and Bea excluded), but it seems my tougher travelling days might be over now. It squeaks under your feet, so of course I was playing in that for a while, squeaking along the beach :-) I did not go for a swim though - the water was cold! Fort Pickens was next door, so after soaking in some sun and sticking our toes in the water - we went to explore the fort. Quite eerie really, and surprisingly ...

Had a lazy morning and took our time getting ready, but heading for Florida. We both could have stayed longer in Nashville for sure as there was so much good music playing every night and it has such a good vibe. Hit the road and enjoyed the trees and hills. In Alabama we noticed that the price for petrol had ...

... coastline is lined with large hotels. It seems that Panama City Beach is just a continuation of the coastline and then it changes names a few more times within a few miles. However, all the beaches were divine - white sand, a few waves, excellent access and best of all warm water and warm enough that I was happy to go swimming in the sea which says a lot. There was some green algae in some areas one day and we were told that this was caused by the warm water ...
