    ... fired its OMS to de-orbit and re-enter the atmosphere. The orbiter glided to a runway landing on Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force Base in California or at the Shuttle Landing Facility at the KSC. After the landings at Edwards, the orbiter was flown back to KSC on the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a specially modified Boeing 747.

    ... going to be thorough and not going to rush myself like I did at the Smithsonian a few years back. I recently learned from my daughter Katie that I suffer from FOMO (Fear of missing out) and I don't want to miss a thing at KSC.     The next morning, back to KCS we went. Seeing the last of the IMAX movies about Space, a play in the Angry birds kids centre...we had done it! Experienced all that KSC had to offer. But we couldn't leave without that last trip through the gift shop. So with new books for the girls to read about space purchased we headed towards the Cocoa Beach Pier.

    ... C) it's so well set up for the fan experience. Fans can get right up to the garages and get driver autographs during events, and see where the cars get worked on. After Daytona we did some shopping (hello Jo-Anne Fabrics!) and checked in at the motel. We had supper at Buffalo Wild Wings and then crashed at the motel for the night.
