Historical Traveler Reviews of Bay Point Resort Village Marriott Golf And Yacht Club Panama City Beach
Very Disappointed
from vassardeb
We have stayed at a number of Marriotts all over the world and this one is not on a par with other Marriott Resorts. The staff, while pleasant, was not particularly "service-oriented." Basics, like room-cleaning, were performed daily, but inconsistently in terms of quality. Spa has no lockers, did not provide robes. Restaurant menu very limited. Person answering the phone for room service did not have sufficient grasp of English to take orders.
Great time at Marriott

We went for Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed the Marriott Bay Point. Originally, our room was located far away from the main lobby, close to the golf course. We wanted to be located closer to the action and asked if we could move. They were very gracious and moved us to a room overlooking the pool and pier. This room was very nice and must be the updated rooms everyone spoke of. The staff was very nice and friendly and we loved the bar at the end of the pier, Lime's. The bar was in the middle of the Bay and you could actually walk out to the beach from the bar. We would have liked to have been closer to the main beaches but for getting away from the city and crowds, you can't beat the Marriott. The restraunt food was pricey and okay but not great. We came back to the hotel too late for dinner and even Domino's stopped delivering. We had to eat dinner at the convenience/gas station down the road. But still had a great time.

Nice location but not @ the beach, bar out on the bay is fun spot. Hotel undergoing much needed renovations. The grounds looked very dated. The upscale dining spot 30 blue was lousy. The sushi bar and bar area in the main hotel had a fun happy hour. Golf course was average @ best, condition
fair.
Don't think I'd stay here again, did not think much of Panama City Beach area as a whole.
Comfortable, nice location

This hotel is was very clean, the rooms are a nice size, and the amenities are geat! My son played pool while watching the bay. One hot tub was not hot and we did not get maid service one day, but other than that, we enjoyed the stay. I would definately stay in the main hotel, not the Villas. The Villas are away from the amenities and are smaller rooms with loud A/C noises.
Good location, overpriced

Only paid $100 a night due to Marriott timeshare tour. Wouldn't have been worth much more than that. Old rooms, small bathrooms, construction in progress all around the property. Friendly staff was the best part. It is inside a main gate which affords better security. Good location, only 5 minute drive around the lagoon from St. Andrews State park.
Average, but pricy!

Bay Point was a nice resort, but for the price I have stayed at better.
In my opinion they could charge nearly 100$ less per night. We probably will not return because there is so much more out there for so much less.
Great Place to Visit

This is my favorite place to stay in Panama city. The resort is very different than most places in Panama city (this is a good thing). It sits on St. Andrews bay rather than panama city beach. The resort is great for familes and far from the hustle and bustle of the strip. There are several decent restuarants and a nice lounge. The pool area is great with two large outdoor pools and one indoor pool. There is a small fitness center and two hot tubs. The rooms are recently renovated and have marble baths, a small fridge, and a small work area. The grounds of the resort are immaculate and there are two excellent golf courses on the property. The only drawback to this property is it's distance from the main beach. There is a small beach on the property at alligator point which is a bay beach. I believe this property has recently been sold and will be re-named Sterling Beach. I hope the new owner does not change too much.
Decent

Stayed here for numerous business trips in 2002. By far the nicest hotel in Panama City but that probably isn't saying too much. It is far from the beach but the beach hotels are run down from the Spring Break crowd.
This property is relatively clean but not as up to date as many other Marriotts. Could use some work.
Overall, if you need a place to stay for a few nights it will do the trick. If longer, don't go to Panama City - there are at least 100 better, beautiful beaches in FL!
Just OK

Very clean & wonderful staff. The 'beach' this resort sports is not a desirable beach though, was better to drive to the strip - but that was farther than we wanted to be from a nice beach. That was the only detraction to this very nice resort.
Marriott's saved my trip

Marriott's Bay Point is the most wonderful place in Panama City. They make you feel like your stay is important to them. We are going back to Panama City this year and the only way we are going back is because we can stay at Marriott's Bay Point.
Last year we were to stay in a condo but the place was so bad we were giong to drive to Fort Myers FL. to be married BUT we found Marriott's Bay Point so they saved my Wedding Day and trip!
