... and the caves were good. Nadia was our guide for the caves and she was fun and interesting. We were not allowed to take photos in the cave (supposedly because the camera flash might ruin the cave paintings made by the Taino Indians but even non-flash photography is banned so I'm not sure...) After the caves there is an Iguana reserve so we got to see a few of these close up. It seems to be moulting time as they were all shedding their ...

... dissertation research on documentation and the movement Reconocido with the fantastic help of Telemin. It has been extremely interesting to learn directly from those living here about the issues which they have to deal with on a daily basis. That said, I am really looking forward to travelling, being a tourist and not having to worry about work or anything uni-related! Hello again!

So it seems that every a month goes by before I get a chance to add an update! There is quite a bit to recount this time, so I will try to do a few entries to catch up...

During the rest of Ian's visit in September, we managed to pack quite a lot in. We had a belated birthday celebration for him at my friend Matilda's house...she cooked the most amazing curry dishes, and it was a special treat because she made 2 ...

... The garden is massive, and there are only 3 workers and no volunteers at the moment, as it is hot and hard work! The other projects that we are hoping to complete involve getting a tractor out there for a day or two...this is looking to be problematic, but I will see what comes of this at tonight's meeting. As well, they want to have someone measure and make proper uniforms (scrubs-style) for all of the "tias" - these are the women who work and live full-time ...
