The ornate buildings, architecture, thrones, and grand size of this impressive site was what really stood out, and with Jason’s stories and commentaries about the history, it made for a memorable morning. Tyler was disappointed he could not enter the city through the centre gate, which is historically reserved for the emperor alone. Jim just used the centre gate!     An early rise of 6am, and I got to the Beijing Hostel around 9 China time, so a pretty long day. Transit wasn't helped by spending 40minutes in domestic baggage claim (due to a stop over in Shanghai) when my rucksack was in international baggage claim.
