... birthday celebration for Mae- they even had a heart shaped candle! It was perfect- rain stopped so hit the streets again. Wandered to the Bell and Drum Towers. Beautiful old buildings used to tell time to the locals before there were clocks. Used water measuring contraptions to measure time. Amazing. They had these evil steep stairs going up each tower- our legs are gonna hurt tomorrow!

Found another big area of Hutongs but these have been converted ...

... it turned out to be an interesting place to visit.   The tour also included two 30 minute shopping trip stops.  One was a jade factory and the other a silk shop.  So we learned a little about those things as well.  So the tour worked out well.  We were back at our hotel by 5pm.
