Ouch... hangovers suck.

I woke up feeling fine, which immediately triggered the "Yeah! I am not going to be hungover " or the "Ah, ****, it hasn't caught up with me yet, this may be bad" thoughts. The latter won. Bri and I did our best sloth impersonations and around 2 in the afternoon crawled back to the Mexican restaurant for deep fried anything and ginger ale. Then back to the hotel for more rest. We told the girls at the massage place that we would be back in for pedicures. So off we went. They teased us about h...

Bungee jumping and tattoos

So, we decided to spend the last full day doing everything that we talked about doing, but didn't get around to. First things first, we needed to buy our bus ticket to get to Surat Thani to catch the train to Bangkok. Once we got our tickets, it was time to go Bungee Jumping. We found a happy tuk-tuk driver that offered a good price and said that he would stick around and watch and take us back to the hotel once we were done. Sounds like a marvelous idea. Off to Jungle Bungee Jump we go. www....

Phuket

We have just finished our five nights in Phuket. We are now sitting waiting to leave on the midnight flight to Amman where we will change planes then fly to Cairo, its going to be a long next 24hours waiting and on planes, we will be stuffed when we arrive in Egypt. We all enjoyed Phuket, we were staying in a very nice hotel with three huge swimming pools. We spent alot of time chilling out. On one of the days we went by boat for the whole day to a few of the Pipi islands, we snorkeled and me...

Back To Patong

October 4, 2008 This morning we woke up to another beautiful sunrise. Shaun took a rest in a hammock by the beach while I booked a hotel for tonight and a flight back to Bangkok over the Internet. Our goal is to get back to the city by Sunday morning in order to see the infamous Chatenchuk market that takes place only on weekends. We have heard it is a site to see! The last couple of days here on the Phi Phi islands have been the highlight of the trip. I can't believe how clear the water is a...

First Stop: Phuket

So this was my first trip to Thailand. I was so excited to finally go. I've been studying Thai for a little over two years now and I really couldn't wait to see if I could hack it in the streets of Thailand. I traveled there with my best friend, Jenny, my travel-like soulmate. We flew out of Seoul and landed in Phuket. We had no arrangements on how to get to our hotel. Like much of this trip, we just winged it. Exiting the airport in the middle of the night, we were instantly surrounded by Th...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Banthai Beach Patong

Location, Location ,Location!

from London-Phil
If you have to stay in Patong...

Then the Banthai Beach Resort is a good choice! Not cheap but the location is superb! The gym is clean and certainly adequate, the service good and overall I have little to complain about...Apart from that is, a couple of Security Guards who resembled "jobsworth's" late one evening. Overall, proberbly a good safe choice right in the middle of Patong.

It's worth mentioning, I had booked at the Amari Coral Beach but no one told me about the Hill or the walk! My fault! I had expected something similar to Samui, it was not! Reviews are useful but there is no substitute for being there and seeing what it's really like.

P.S. Why not try Kata or Karon, more fun, less sleaze, more bang for your buck, if you know what I mean!

Have fun.

Regards Phil.

Banthai Resort - Amazing Patong Secret

from david61
The Banthai Resort is the most amazing place to stay in Patong.

Our family of 5 just finished a holiday at the Banthai, and can't believe what great value it is.

It's a brand new refurbished contemporary property with modern rooms, and certainly has a boutique hotel feel to it.

The Banthai has 2 huge pools and every room has a balcony overlooking the pool. There are poolside bars, several restaurants, and 2 bars on the beach road.

However the beauty of the Banthai is that the hotel complex is set well back from the beach so there is no noise - it's very peaceful.

Yet the shopping and best Patong restaurants are within minutes of the Banthai. (Sabia Sabai, Sweet, Roma, S&G etc)

We had 2 standard rooms which were perfect on the first floor overlooking the pool. The standard rooms are the same size as the superior rooms, which are on ground level right by the pool.

Breakfast is good, and our meal at the Port Bar in front of the 9pm live band was good value.

I thought the Kumala Pantai in Bali was an outstanding hotel in the mid-range area, but this is even better.

Thanks to the staff at the Banthai who helped us have the best holiday ever, and congratulations on rebuilding and developing a class property which is affordable.

The Best Hotel In The Heart Of Patong - Excellent

from Boogs
This hotel was just the best, I have been to Phuket 5 times and i have stayed at the Patong Beach Hotel, Patong Merlin Hotel, Horizon Beach Hotel & the Patong Beach Resort, and Hands down this hotel is the best out of all of them.... The rooms are big, clean & Very modern, The Pool has two swim up bars, your rooms are cleaned twice a day and in the evening they come to turn down your bed, Also leather day sofa's on the balcony and also leather day lounge in room, The hotel also has a Day Spa, Which we went to and it was just Bliss, If you are going to Phuket, I would not look past this hotel..., Just the Best

Beautiful!!

from VancouverReporter
We stayed here in November 2004, before the tsunami...but this is a fantastic property! Very beautiful rooms done in a clean, modern style...white with dark wood. Pools are lovely as well, and what a great location! Right across the street from the beach, though the property is set back from the street so there's no traffic noise.

Really loved our stay here...can't remember what we paid because we booked a pretty cheap package from Hong Kong that included breakfast too...which is an awesome buffet.

I've checked out the website for the newly refurbished hotel post-tsunami and it looks just as fabulous, plus they have a spa now!!

Highly recommend this place.

Truely amazing.....best pool ever

from manhattan76
I was fortunate to stay at this hotel just before the Tsunami...and i have to say this hotel was truely magnificant. The room decor was beautiful...rooms extremely clean and every evening a Thai Lily was placed on the pillow case. The pool was truely unreal...there was two pools and they were the entire length of the hotel....and trust me that is long. The pool was very well kept ...always plenty of space and what was the best was the jacuzzi style sun loungers in the pool...yes in the pool. I would definitely go back to this hotel. The location was perfect across Patong beach and only a mere 10 min walk from all the nightlife..This hotel is truely one of Patongs well kept sercrets...i have never seen it featured in a brochure...but was recommended it by my travel agent. Best holiday in Thailand without a doubt.

Clean, Beautiful, Excellent Service, - Highly Recommended

from jentmy
Was recommended to it by the travel agent, always fully booked. Conveniently very near to Patong beach. Good breakfast. Clean room with excellent pool view, some rooms on ground floor have balcony directly to the pool, imagine just jump out of your balcony to the pool!

When we arrived, we were handed wet towels and welcome drink, sat at the reception lounge and being checked in without having to queue. Great service at mere 1400Baht!

Room was very clean n pleasant, with a day bed. Bathroom also very clean. Sad to hear tsunami hit it but this means new rooms! Definitely will go again.

Excellent resort & location

from Pang73
From lobby to room is very beutifully designed. The rooms were very well designed and clean unlike many other resorts in Patong i've stayed in. They also have one of the nicest pool i've ever seen. The location is also the best for those who wants to do everything in Patong. Centrally located in Patong and the beach in just aross the road. This is one of the best resort i've ever stayed in and definately the best value for money too.
