Buckets in Bangkok

... a little reggae bar on a side street where we chilled and watched some football drinkin and playin pool. Glenn got brave and got himself a tattoo on his wrist but done by bamboo instead of machine. This has got to be seen. it took 2 hours for it to be done and he got to keep the bamboo too. It takes 15 years of practice before you can master the art of bamboo tattooing. And it was brilliant and fair ****s to glenn because it must ...

Boozing Bangkok

... br>Monday

Visited the floating market. It's not really floating. There are a load of houses built on stilts, forming canals between them all. You get blasted along on a long fast boat (big old engine directly connected to a long prop shaft sticking out the back) to the market area, and can walk from shop to shop to buy the tat they have available. Food's good though, if you like bananas ...

A Lounge fit for a King

... Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is huge. It is 4 floors of mayhem. We checked in straight away for our flight to Ko Samui. This would have went by without a hitch had Pa not been pulled aside. Pa "The Terrorist" Coady had a can of deodorant in his bag and was planning on blowing up the plane. After a quick cavity search we headed on to the Bangkok Airways ...

Huge Flea Market and some Good 'Ole Watering Holes

When Lauren and I first got our current place we were informed that it would be partially furnished. Well, there should have been a little bit more emphasis on the partially because we didnt have much when we moved in besides a few beds and a few appliances. So for the past few weeks we have been trying to furnish our place with cheap but attractive goods (kinda like me). We havent had a lot of success and our place still remained a bit empty ...

Buzzy Bangkok

It was a whirlwind 4 days in Bangkok. The clock seems to tick at double speed in this crazy city. Anytime you jump in a taxi to go somewhere it takes 30- 45 minutes. The traffic is manic.

Our hotel was luxury!! It was a brand new Accor hotel only 4 minutes walk to MBK, Siam centre and Paragon shopping. Our suite was huge with separate lounge and office area and huge bathroom with separate toilet! Mason was very excited that someone could ...

Checking Out Where We Will be Working

... of Bangkok (about 20 minutes west of where we are now, a lot closer to downtown BKK). Lauren's company's headquarters is in an area of alot of expats (foreigners from Western countries) and has a lot of nice neighborhoods nearby. We are in the process of looking for a house or condo in that area and will keep you posted!

The craziness continues!

... of the shops were closed. It was still a great time though.

Yesterday was cloudy and rainy for the most part but it was SO refreshing! I had such a wonderful day of wandering aimlessly and reading. Rain is welcomed with open arms here, it cools things off which is a nice change.

Today was quite a hectic day! Mandy, her friend from the UK Ashley, and I went to the Grand Palace. The Grand Palace is the former ...

12. Hey, Go Coup in Someone Else's Ear

... the government seat to wherever it might go, and given that Bangkok has only two major airports capable of handling international traffic, the choice of one of them as a temporary government HQ was not a good one vis-à-vis international travel. Since international travel in turn is the key to Thailand's economic strength, the disruption of it could be disastrous for Thais and tourists alike caught in the conflict.

For whatever reason, one mob's adherents ...

Rod Nam Sang-Thai Ceremony

... which is the blossom of fertility and other flowers in elaborate patterns to symbolise the happy union. Rod Nam Sang was beautiful and magical. It was really the only time I became emotional, and it was b/c of all the wonderful blessings and well wishes we received from our friends and family. Our best friend on Lanta, Gouas, had tears in his eyes as he poured the water onto our hands. He is an extraordinary person who had become such a good ...
