Very low key day today after the long day yesterday. First thing we needed to do was get to the ANZ to pick up our cards. In the afternoon we skyped Marc, then another 3 monthly catch up but Skype with our financial advisor James. Beautiful day, only low 20's but the humidity was high so it felt a little ...

... t put a downer on the start of our exploits! We left Sydney over The Harbour Bridge & headed north; cue an emotional goodbye to our home for the last five months! Our first stop would be Coffs Harbour in northern NSW, about six hours from Sydney. ... were lots of good stalls, and Dev treated herself to a nice necklace, and I bought her some hummingbird earrings :) we also shared a box of Gyoza dumplings which were delicious! We were still a little hungry so got a pizza from Dominos to share (works out as about £3.50 for a medium pizza, wish it was that cheap in the UK!) Great day in Byron Bay today. We're now resting in a cosy room with a good fan (thank god!) Tomorrow our next stop is Coolangatta :) ...

Coffs Harbour to Ballina (and whale watching)

At 7am we awoke to the sound of a text message confirming that our whale watching adventurer was on. We drove to the harbour and wrapped up in as many layers as we could; it was freezing. Our vessel was the Pacific Explorer Catamaran which rode out of the harbour into a very choppy sea. We scanned the horizon for the wisps of salt water as a result of the whales coming up for breath. Only a short distance after leaving the harbour we had our first sighting in the ...
