TravelPod's Snapshot

The Bahama Bay Resort offers a prime location for those who want to experience the fun of Orlando and Disney, as well as an escape from the chaos of these tourist destinations. Comprised of one, two, and three-bedroom family condos and featuring lush natural surroundings, guests enjoy a tropical villa atmosphere at this resort. Rather than a luxurious hotel experience, each condo is made to feel like a home away from home with in-unit laundry, central air, and a fully equipped kitchen. Meanwhile, Disney World and Orlando are less than five miles away, making it an ideal location for a family trip.

Families will find it easy to keep kids entertained here, where four swimming pools, a children's play area, a splash pad, and sports courts are always brimming with energy and activity. However, quieter options for your trip are available as well, including heated in-ground spas, a fishing dock, and nature trails. Most guests take their meals on-site at Tradewinds Restaurant and Bar, which features beautiful views of the lake and the beach and a pub atmosphere complete with dart boards and billiards tables.

While not an upscale experience, guests enjoy the comfort and casual vibe found at Bahama Bay. Meanwhile, the location offers proximity to all the top area attractions.

Absolutely loved this resort. It was nicely out of Orlando so peace and quite and only a 20 minute drive to enter the hussle and bussle of tourist actractions.

Orlando - final couple of days

... a glass door. The operator asks you for the thumbs up and then pushes the button which makes the floor open and you drop vertically down the chute! It sounds, and looks terrifying, but the initial drop is so quick that it's not too bad. We spent most of the day there until a massive downpour arrived and we were stranded under the umbrellas until it stopped and we ...

The first couple of drops ended up with a bit of a wetting but as we were approaching the final ramp up to get to the big fall, we got stuck again, only this time we had to get out and they took a couple of hours to fix the ride. We were only stuck for 5 mins but they gave us an express pass ...

So we have made a decision to go to Disney today and pick up our tickets at Magic Kingdom.

I love disney and this place is just so special - it does make the child in you come alive! John had not been to disney since he was 5 and I think a lot of things have changed since then. We wandered around a bit first and then chose to go on splash mountain as the queue was only about 25 minutes. It was as good as I remember, I love the whole build up before ...

... up the cruel ways to torture and punish someone was disgusting!

Returning back to our inexpensive accommodations for the evening, the kids went to the pool for a late night swim before hoping into bed and resting before our very last visit to the Magic Kingdom.

It was Mother's Day when we woke. Given my Pandora charm present and taken to iHOP for breakfast, we said our goodbyes to the Roper's and ...

So off we went- we went to island of adventure first and Jurassic park was open, omg I was freaking out as I knew I had to go on it. It started out like a casual boat cruise through the dinosaur times and then alarms start going off and we begin going uphill again and see a huge t- Rex and then (what I thought was) a vertical drop to the ...
