... 8:30 or 9 when I go back upstairs to read a little more and fall asleep. However, since I've been on the internet all day at work there isnt much else to do and reading a lot in one time span usually puts me to sleep no matter what time it is. So that means I've been doing it student teaching style and going to sleep ridiculously early some nights.
I have also tried to download t.v. shows but mostly my internet is too slow to do it, and I dont have any movies with me. I have ...
... am repeating myself but at the beginning of each class all the students stand and say "good afternoon teacher, how are you today?" I have to respond and then tell them to sit or else they will stay standing the rest of class. Also, at the end they say in unison "Thank you teacher, see you later, goodbye." It is kind of cute and sweet, but also army like and thus freaks me out a little. If the students leave the room for what ever reason they always ask permission to enter ...

The following morning I headed again into the water with Vivi and we stayed for nearly 2 hours or so chatting and swimming. By then it was lunchtime and good thing too because that's when the rain started.
Unfortunately it didn't stop.
We stayed at this one restaurant for hours, playing cards, chatting and drinking.

Koh Samet, Thailand our_travels... worst rush hour traffic I have ever experienced. With that said, I can see how the area would have been beautiful before Bangkok expanded as it did. The architecture here is amazing as you can see stained glass windows amongst intricate balconies along the side roads. Our accommodations are also beautifully landscaped and serve as a little green respite from the dusty streets. The inside of our ...
Bang Phli, Thailand mikeandjess... and today is like any other. Except that it's the Thai New Year. This is your third New Year in four months, after the Westerners and Chinese celebrated theirs. Today thousands of Thais will come home from Bangkok to celebrate with their families over the four days of celebration, so don't plan on getting a bus ticket to anywhere. And don't plan on staying dry... Because it's also the water festival. For four days, kids with water guns and truckloads of Thais will ...
Khon Kaen, Thailand bjkat81... 7 am and start cleaning the school yard. Even the littlest ones ( the preschoolers) pick fallen leaves out of the rock gardens. there are garbage cans full of witches' brooms and the kids just grab one and start sweeping or picking up litter. After lunch, they scrub the bathrooms. And I mean scrub. They clear the table for the teachers' lunch and help in the kitchen. Try that in America. Some parent would be howling, You're not going to make my kid work ...
Phanat Nikhom, Thailand olsommer... time in their language development. It's awkward conversing with someone when you don't speak their language. It's especially awkward conversing with a person dying of AIDS when you don't speak their language. I was impressed with the new group because they tried. We tried to explain that most of these patients don't get visitors who actually want to talk to them. Just try to converse, hold their hands, and they'll appreciate it. When we entered the second ward ...
