We made it to Phuket roughly around 10PM and we headed to our resort. We kicked it up a notch here. Frank found a resort on the beach for roughly 35 bucks pp. Not too shabby since we were paying more than that for the hostels in Europe last year. It is paradise here! The resort is so nice, right across from the beach. We have our own bungalow, high class for our cheap asses! It a nice room with a large bathroom. We no longer have to shower over a toilet while fighting with the shower curtain....
Phuket, Thailand deniseosu4Well It is Weds and we are off to do what Denise has been waiting for this whole trip, Elephant trekking. I wasn't too excited for it but hey thought it would be some good pics! We were picked up in a truck type vehicle with a gate that kept us in the back. We got to the "safaria" after a 30 min ride from our hotel. We first rode what I think was an ox around in a circle then had our picture taken on top of one. They showed us how they use the sap from rubber trees to make rubber kinda neat t...
Phuket, Thailand nperianWell when we flew into Phuket we were supposed to be staying from Sunday and then leaving on Thurs (Thanksgiving) to head for Bangkok. As we were here on Tuesday we learned that protesters had taken over 2 of the airports in Bangkok and there was no way to get there. Thursday soon approached and are flight was indeed canceled. They kept saying that they figured it would be over by Saturday so we would just fly out then to Bangkok and catch our flight home. This was def wishful thinking on our...
Phuket, Thailand nperianWell we have officially been in Phuket and are trip much longer than we thought it would be. Luckily things are safe here in Phuket so no need to worry. On Tuesday the protesters finally got what they wanted and the Prime Minister was kicked out. So at least it worked! As for us, well we have been kinda in a groundhog day since are vacation was extended. We pretty much wake up eat breakfast, go back to the room and change (Frank showers, he takes like at least 3 a day), decide on the beach or...
Phuket, Thailand nperianWell it is Saturday morning here in Phuket. This will be are last full day and night here. I have to say I have enjoyed this relaxing part of the trip and the people we have met on this Island. I enjoy the people I meet as much as I do seeing sites and the countries. You get to pick their brains a little bit about what they think on Americans, world views, and get to see if what you thought about them is true at all. Phuket is a little too tourist for my taste, but would be a great place for ...

... packed out. There had to be at least 300 people in there dancing. We danced around for awhile before saying goodbye to the girls and heading back to the hotel. Along the way we stopped at one of the street vendors and got crepes with banana and nutella. As you can probably guess from the rest of my food experiences in Thailand, they were awesome! I kept my key with me the entire night so I didn't have any room problems getting into my room which was a relief.
Phuket, Thailand claudiv... it was showing cartoons designed for three years olds. I guess they wanted to avoid showing Thai language movies, but since it was mostly Thai adults on the bus I don't imagine anybody was very happy with their choice of entertainment (unless it was designed to put people to sleep quicker I suppose.) After watching three episodes of the Sopranos, our sleeping pills were in full effect and we were off to sleep for the rest of the night. I was comfortable enough that ...
Phuket, Thailand aaronpolarbearThis weekend we just stayed local, there was a big group of people going to Koh Phi Phi but we decided that it was just too many people and that Phi Phi is too commercial. It turned out to be a good decision, as we had a fantastic weekend. Me, Alison and Marlie (my flat mates) and two other girls Amber and Bella, went out in a local bar on Friday night and met a few of the people who are starting the course today. We gave ourselves a 1am curfew and got up ...
Nai Harn, Phuket, Thailand loumac... alleged opera star from Moscow who was having wife/Thai gf/passport/visa troubles--he was waiting for money (I heard him sing one night and the rumour could well be true.) and Alan a ne'er do well former rocker, older than me who just lives here for the winters I suppose and drinks and smokes and sometimes plays the guitar. Dimitri always wore some new device around his neck, cell phones, flashlights, knives, anything that ...
Phuket, Thailand superg... But we still managed to take some photos. Simon Cabaret Show We bought from online, one ticket costed us THB5000 per person which was alright for the show we watched were fantastic. We had a fabulous time there. The backdrop, the stage deco and the costumes were fantastic. The sound system were fabulous too. The dancers, the songs and everything! My favourite part was when Tina Turner impersonator came out to perform. LOL. She looked so much like Tina Turner even though she ...
