Well another late getaway today after a casual pack up and departure from Daly River. We finally decided where we were heading for - Batchelor... no I'm still happily married...just the entrance to the Litchfield NP. We had a pretty god run and arrived here about midday. After setting up and having some lunch we headed off to the NP to look at some waterfalls. Ethan felt a bit queasy along the way but when we got there he seemed to recover pretty well. We started at Florence falls which was a...
Batchelor, Northern Territory, Australia drownsroundausHappy Mother's Day to all those wonderful mums out there. Hope you were showered with love as you all deserve. Unfortunately didn't have a great night with Denzel again - think he's teething some more. I had a bit of a lie in - definately not a sleep in... but slightly relaxing just the same. We went to Litchfield again today to finish the bits we hadn't done. After a delayed start as we realised after a while of driving that I'd left our camera out the front of the caravan so drove back to g...
Batchelor, Northern Territory, Australia drownsroundausToday we went into Litchfield National Park, which was stunning. Florence Falls had 135 steps, the girls ran up! Wangi Falls had a beach of sorts. Caitlin and Milly had a great time. Tomorrow we are catching up with Scott and family.
Batchelor, Australia kirsty.squireFirst stop on waking from our claustrophobic nightmares was the camping shop, where we picked up mosquito nets and a fan. Anything to try and improve our sleeping conditions!
We drove South on the magnificently named ‘Stuart Highway’ to Litchfield NP, stopping only for a quick dip in Berry Springs. Unfortunately, they were closed due to some kind of ...

... pulled up at the entrance to Bullo River Homestead which was 75klm down a very very rough track (the homestead that is) Some may know the story behind this place. We are now finally going to cross the WA border and we got to the border and had to throw out all the fruit and vegetables that we still had left. Knowing that we couldnt cross theborder with certain food we made sure we didnt have to much with us. No plants, flowers, nuts, honey are to cross over..........

Green ants are amazing insects. I'm very glad I studied them and I hope you’ve learned something too.

... point north and south?
Magnetic termite mounds point north and south because then there will always be a shadey side of the nest.
Approximately how many termites are there in a termite nest?
Termite nests have millions of termites in them.
... called "Bambo Creek Tin Mine". The layout was interesting with the houses and the mining openings. Also Buley Rockholes were a good place to swim. We did a walk up and down Walkers Creek and stopped at every camping spot and got in the pools there. No.6 was the best!
Batchelor, Northern Territory, Australia arnott... our area blocked off so were still in prime position for viewing the races.
We were set for a big day so we cooked up bacon & eggs to line our stomachs before cracking open the champagne and beers.
We headed along to the main race area in time for the first race at 2pm. Craig's horse won - pure fluke - he didn't have much luck for the rest of the day! The atmosphere was fantastic. Some people had gone ...
