Our Golden Gate bridge biking adventure

A travel blog entry by maryham on Dec 29, 2014

We took the ferry from Larkspur to the San Francisco ferry building this morning then picked up rental bikes for our big Golden Gate bridge adventure. Since we had a whole day, we decided to do some of the Golden Gate Park near the bridge. Unfortunately, the map didn't show how hilly it was so we cut it short when we got to the top of a hill and …

After breakfast, we packed up and farewelled the lovely Hotel Carlton. We were all excited to …

Not complaining, it's just another experience along the way. Mid morning we caught a bus downtown and checked out the car hire garage off Union Square and visited the Tourist Centre for maps and ideas. Then took a tram down to the Ferry Building where there was a Farmers' Market ...

After leaving 'The Palace of Fine Arts' I moved towards the edge of San Francisco Bay and took a stroll along the water's edge, To the left I had a excellent view of the Golden Gate Bridge and off to the left, Alcatraz!!

San Francisco Bay is MUCH bigger and wider than Sydney Harbour and so lacks Sydney Harbour's intimacy - where you can stand on one side of Sydney Harbour and generally have a sense of the nearness ...
