... world's Joshua trees grow here. They are not really a tree, but a species of yucca. A majority are pretty scrawny, but there were many fine specimens. However, I think the best feature of this park are all the boulder stacks throughout the area. They create many strange, eerie formations including Skull Rock ( very cool). After dinner we strolled down the middle of Palm Canyon Drive for Villagefest - a diverse array of artists, artisans, entertainers and purveyors of fresh fruits and veggies, flowers, jewelry, snacks and sweets. We left Swakopmund at 7am and arrived at our destination at noon. We set up our tents on a private farm on the edge of the Namib Desert. Namibia draws its identity and its name from the Namib; one of the oldest and driest deserts in the world. This was by far the most remote campsite yet but it also is the most beautiful I've ever seen. The desert heat was scorching and despite wanting to take a hike, we decided to be cautious ...
