... the beach but the downside was there were to power points in the room (you had to get reception to charge things for you). The Resort I had tried first was wanting 190RM for a garden view and could only do one night (the amount was a rip off). I had stayed in worse so after settling in I had just enough time to catch the sunset before I went and had dinner. Like other islands I've been to in Asia the specialty is always BBQ (mainly seafood of course) and here was no ...

... stay with them whenever we are in Kuala Lumpur and said they would take us out to the very best restaurants and the best bars the city had to offer. The next morning before they got the boat to leave the island they came to the dive shop and left a rather decent Tip, £150 between 3 of us. Not bad at all! The name "Perhentian" means "stopping point" in Malay, the islands used to be a waypoint for traders between Bangkok and Malaysia but now tourism accounts for most of the economic activity. The islands only permanent inhabitants live in a small fishing village on Kecil. A lot of travellers turn up to the ...

It took a full day to make it from Sandakan in Borneo to the Perhentian Islands off the East coast of Malaysia. We flew mid afternoon from Sandakan to KL then on from there to Kota Bharu. We had a few hours to kill in KLIA2 so didn't arrive in Khota Bharu until late night so had to stay over there before moving onto the Perhentians the following morning. KLIA is now starting to feel like my second home I have been through it that many times. I guess if things get really ...
